My 1911 Colt series 80 Gold Cup National Match is 1984 vintage,
so I have had it for a while. I have only accumulated fewer than
a dozen holsters for it.

I hope you will show me photos of some of your favorite 1911 holsters.

Here are five of my favorites, left to right:

Heiser #728 Carved, laced, and lined with chamois. On a Texas
Gunslinger belt, Nezzie Navajo silver buckle, Ultimate M1911
knife, and NRA instructor cap. A perfect ensemble for barbeques
or any other opportunities to show off.

Brill-Persons holster and Ranger style belt. Gift from my friend
Red Nichols. Camillus knife and sheath. NRA cap again. Another
barbeque worthy rig.

DeSantis HRT. Way back when the FBI's hostage rescue team
adopted the 1911 as their sidearm, they went to DeSantis for
their holster. He appropriately calls it the HRT. Years ago I
had occasions to wear it OWB in the open (not concealed). I
appreciate the way the thumb snap serves as an additional
safety when carrying cocked and locked.

Bucheimer's Concealer, on a Pro-Rider belt, Sharps stag knfe,
& USAF vet cap. This is my most recent acquisition for my 1911,
and I like it for the same reason I like the HRT.

Milt Sparks VMII on Sparks gun belt, DeSantis mag pouch, &
Silent Warrior cap. I don't carry my 1911 IWB very often, but
when I do this is best I have found for comfort.

For OWB I like pancake holsters like Galco’s Combat Master and Warbird Leather’s version for all size 1911s.

A gun that’s been popular for over a Century results in a lot of vintage holsters. Here are a few I’ve run into over the years.
A Myres holster with the owner’s initials and a magazine release button block.

This A.H. Hardy holster and mag pouch were featured in an article on Hardy in Man At Arms.

Here is my DM Bullard rig. Includes a belt slide holster with a Dan Wesson Pointman 9. Equipped with Culina Bullseye Maple grips. Next is a cross draw for a 3 inch Kimber 1911 with Crimson Trace grips. All on a custom Bullard ranger belt with a buckle made by prisoners in the Huntsville prison for the Texas Ranger Museum.

Forgot about this one.....

Stingray holster made by my BIL for a now-sold Kimber Custom Classic.

While the pistol is gone, I’m still holding on to the holster and magazine carrier.

Here are a couple that I use more often. A Bianchi paddle, for the Combat Commander, great to slip on and go; a JSG Gunleather for the 1991 Compact and a Tucker Answer for the full size Shockley.

My only Vintage 1911 Holster

While I do have decent leather when packing a 1911 style sidearm, my only real "vintage" is shown below.

USGI Model 1916 flap holster with tie-down wrapped in cavalry, AEF Marine style, and has remained intact and solid for 100 plus years.

Famous maker? Only if one considers FM Hoyt Shoe Company of Manchester NH "famous". US Inspector in 1918 was JJ Murphy.

Knowing this one is not in the same league as posters above, I still wish it could talk and tell me where its been the last century...and who carried it on their belt.

Here is one rarely seen anymore. My Colt Wylie Clapp .45acp in a Galco Jack*** rig. A great wintertime rig.
I'll call you, I too have a Clapp in a 45acp Commander model. But, here's my Colt SS Commander with ivories in my Mitch Rossen rig I wear in the winter myself.

I have quite a few holsters for the full size 1911 but my Ruger SR1911 has sights that are a bit high for some of my 1911 holsters but some work fine.

standard.jpg

this newer BIANCHI 16H/L 45 AUTO SHOULDER HOLSTER was made in Mexico works fine and the magazine holder provides for either standard or over length.

This Jordan style made by CATHEY ENTERPRISES 8K916 and is marked U S and has a N. S. N 1095=01-211-7962

This MIXSON LEATHERCRAFT PADDLE HOLSTER is a good concealment holster
