OK guys and gals, I think this is the best place for this, if not, I'm sure the Mods will redirect:

I just bought a new Pedersoli Howdah Alaskan that:

1) I'm not sure I'm going to keep.

2) If I do, I'm not sure how I want to tote the thing so am looking for rig suggestions which will likely include a custom carry rig.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions as to how to best carry it and, who best to help direct me where to get it.

I just know I’m probably the only guy here who never saw one of these.
So just for me, please post a picture!

A giant, two-shot .410?

Well, if you like it that’s all that matters. The original Ithaca Auto & Burglar was a 20 gauge. THAT would be interesting, butncurrent laws don’t allow for it.

Giant is a bit overstated and honestly, no, I'm really not sure that I like it.

Dunno about the holster for it, but the howdah looks like a blast!:D

Very cool! (As is the very idea of you tryin’ to find a holster for it! Go for it!)

I shot a 16 ga vintage one once. Hit the target and quit while I was ahead! First you need an elephant, then get one of those baskets to ride in and then put a leather pouch in the basket for the gun. If the tiger jumps on the elephant or in the basket do as Jerry Klower suggested and shoot in amongst them as someone needs relief! If carrying when walking something like a Yaqui slide will be your best bet. ymmv

In SEA one of my Buddies met an Air America Dude who carried a 20 GA Double.
The stock was trimmed to a Pistol-grip, barrels shortened.
It was a Brass ring-swivel arrangement in the end of the Pistol-grip which snapped onto a GI Pistol Belt.

Pedersoli makes a black powder 20 ga Houdah. That's probably legal to own most places.

It would be interesting to have, but I'm not sure what I'd do with is.

Probably shoot it once and put it away.

Post of the week!

But I would have my gun bearer in the basket to load and hand it too me.

Caan's holster is a modified cavalry boot that keeps a carbine from flopping around when mounted. There are reproductions made.

This one is labeled as a Rock Island Original.

If they made it from the factory with the short barrel and stock, I think it could fall in the "AOW" category like the current "Shockwaves" do which requires a $5 tax stamp I believe.

If you're looking for carry options, here's one: Carry to your nearest dealer and trade it! LOL

I would first locate a good, well trained Indian elephant with a good mahout. Have the mahout secure a good howdah. He should know where you can have some good howdah holsters made to keep the weapons secure yet handy when a tiger tries to jump in your howdah.
Hope this helps. ;)

Darn. Pig Hunter beat me to it. That's what I get for not reading a whole thread.
