Please point me in the right direction if this has been answered already, but what is everyone carrying their 4 inch frames in, (model 29)? I’m looking for a western style “cowboy” type set up, except with a higher riding holster.

Here are a couple of examples with my model 29, Left to Right:

Myres #614 Tom Threepersons style holster, Carson belt & Solingen blade.
I've had this one for a long time, but I think
I picked it up on one of the auction sites.

Idaho Leather holster on a David Keith belt, with a Buck knife.
I got this one right here on the S&W Forum in the Accessories
for sale, from -db-

Bianchi Cyclone

I just bought an off the shelf brand new Bianchi Cyclone for my Model 24 from Brownells or Midway. Functionally and economically it does everything I want or need from it. But it’s not cool like those of the other posters here which I envy.

Any of the previously-mentioned holsters would serve nicely. There are others such as the Hunter holsters. You can get them from Midway.

There is guy on Gunbroker that goes by Lunker1999 he has exactly what your looking for. I have bought several over the years from him. but hold on to your wallet he's not cheap...…………………………………..M*

I like both of those holsters. I’d also like to see a better pic of that hat, what brand/style is it?

I don't know how 'Western' this'n is........

I wear it almost everyday with an 3 1/2 to four inch N frame.

Best I recall, El Paso Saddlery make a 1930 Austin model somewhat similar.

.

I really like this entire set up, only difference, and it’s just personal preference, is I like the trigger to be at least partially covered.

What with a hammer strap and the cylinder fitted in the holster...

Pullin' the trigger or cockin' the hammer is neigh near impossible.
I'm not cobblin' any leather anymore, so it's kinda mute point.

But, there used to be someone here on the forum that made a revolver holster with a covered trigger....

Covered trigger guard and high on the belt may be a challenge. I’d think your balance point may be too high. The El Paso Austin with hammer thong may be just the ticket.

If I was looking for something custom and “cowboy” I would contact Rick Bachman @ Old West Reproductions. Great guy and he’s COWBOY!!

Where/who did you get this rig from?

Charlie if you want to see more holsters for N frames, I suggest:
Go up to the top bar and click on Search.
Type in: How I Carry An N Frame
It is a thread that I started and if my memory is correct there are about
sixty some posts on the thread. Some are the same as you see on this
thread, but there are many others. Enjoy!

Here is another one that is a little bit out of the ordinary.
Shown with my Model 29 S&W.
Made by the Old Gringo. He never makes 2 alike.
I sold it years ago, but kept the picture.
