Anyone revisit old holsters?
I, like many of you, have piles of holsters that have been tossed aside because they “just didn’t feel right” or something of that sort. I occasionally retry holsters, like them again (or for the first time), and they go back in the carry rotation. It might be that they work better with a different gun, belt, or somethig entirely subjective.
Today, we revive this Side Guard Holsters “Minimal Snap” after 5+ years. Not sure why this went to the box. It’s well built, slim, etc. I may have perceived it as riding too high or unstable with one loop. Anyway, it feels great right now. Like everything about it.
Today it’s riding with me and this Model 649 / Pachmayr Compac Professional grips.
Anyone else revisit old holsters? It’s like getting a new holster.

That’s all I ever do, especially these days.

I have, but in my case I usually end up finding the same reasons I stopped using them, and go back to my usual holster. However, I hold on to them because there's usually some feature or aspect that can be useful in certain situations. For example, I have a JM Kydex IWB #3 holster for my Beretta PX4 Compact. It's very well made, but not as comfortable as my leather IWB holsters. And it's not as retentive as my Kramer holster. But I like it's clip for easy-on/easy-off, so I keep it handy in the event I have to go somewhere without knowing if carry is prohibited or not.

I have this Side Guard, similar to yours except mine is a clip-on.
I haven't re-visited it for a long, long time, but then I don't really
like IWB carry very much.
BTW the gun is my Colt's Agent wearing Craig Spegel extended
boots.
Most of my holsters are old, like me, so it's often deja vous all over
again.

I did that exact thing a couple of years ago when I bought a Colt CCO. I've had a Bianchi Avenger sitting in the bottom of my holster drawer since 1990 when I bought my first handgun, a Colt stainless Combat Commander. It was my first very early lesson in holsters, it may take a couple to find what you like/need.
The Bianchi Avenger is a very high ride holster, and the all steel Combat Commander needed more support than the aft belt slot and the centered tunnel slot. I ended up with a Desantis pancake style that did a better job supporting that gun.
Now 30 years later, the aluminum officer frame of my CCO is a perfect match for my 50 year old back and the Bianchi Avenger.

Nice holster...and I wouldn't mind revisiting the CCO. Sold my Wiley Clapp CCO to a forum member a couple years ago and occasionally wish that it was still around. That pistol looks sharp and carries easy. Just cannot get used to single action.

I have Galcos version of the Avenger for full size M&P 45. First holster I bought when I got my concealed carry permit many moons ago. Very nice holster design. I’ll have to pull that rig out and try it again. It’s been in the drawer for at least six years now.

I’ve found that sometimes a previously unstable holster becomes stable with age and a few pounds around the middle as a stabilizing force.

The Avenger style holsters for pistols is my personal favorite for all day carry. Here's a Bianchi...

That's so funny to me. I had my good friend and FFL over the other day (yes, yes, we visit each other regularly) and we were going over some gun stuff and I picked up a container and remarked, "I have so many old holsters I don't know which guns they're for anymore. I need to figure that out someday!"

I even have holsters that are duplicates of the original that I couldn't find.

Repurposing holsters to a limited degree. My M&P 2.0 Compact fits perfectly in a Rosen snap on that holds my 320 Sig carry. And my High Noon rig that was made for a SA XD45 Compact fits my S&W M&P45 Compact. Or my Kahr K9 that fits nicely into an old Milt Sparks Summer Special originally built for a Colt 45 Officer Model 1911.
I'm left handed so no holsters go away as they are too time sensitive to replace. Have a tub of holsters, cycle through them ever so often. Sometimes I think I love the leather more than what it was designed to hold, but then again, Nah!

I'll drag these out every now and then.
The first one's a quick prototype of an IWB holster made out of scrap box leather. I'm kinda embarrassed to show it. It's been stitched and restitched a few times.
This one's also made of scrap box leather. It's an IWB holster with an offset loop that's finished a bit nicer.
I still prefer OWB though.
My current holster.

I find one stuck somewhere sometimes that I forgot I owned and recycle it until I can remember why it was stuck away and forgotten to begin with.
I always know where my Askins Avenger is. It's always near the place in the safe I keep a Wilson 45, a 5" 38 Super and my Browning Hi-power. I always carry a J frame but it sometimes takes a place as BUG to one of these.
