It probably doesn't make a lot of difference if the holster is IWB
(Inside Waist Band), or even if OWB and concealed, because
no one is supposed to see it anyway.

I always try to match my holster and belt. Don't always get it
exactly correct, but I try hard and sometimes I am successful.

Here are some examples, Left to Right:

Myers 614 holster on a carved Carson belt with my model 29.

Lawrence 34B on a Dave Keith belt with my model 19.

Brill holster on a James belt with my model 10 4" barrel.

Ken Null RSS holster on a Haugen belt with my model 10 2"

Shoemaker holster on Nichol's Sidewinder belt with my model 67.

Yes, they should.
My snubby holster.

And belt.

Yeah they're both black with white stitching and basket weave stamped but honestly, if you look closely, you'll notice that the basket weave doesn't match. Kinda bugs me sometimes.

Anyway, matching cross draw and ranger belt.

Got the basket weave matched on this one.

I'm of the opinion that it should all match, including footwear.

I’ve always wanted a nice leather shoulder holster. I ended up making one. It’s more or less something I play with around the house with. I just started making stuff out of leather so I’m pretty much seeing what I’m capable of.

YES - I believe they should match. First off a holster matching the belt is a little less conspicuous. Secondly, I wouldn't want to get a ticket from the fashion police! :D

I use to only buy tan, natural or brown holsters when I first started out totin'. It soon became obvious to me that black holsters and belts are less conspicuous when you bend down, reach for something high, or when the wind blows your over shirt. Now I will only buy black holsters and belts AND have had all my tan, brown and natural holster (at least the ones I really use) dyed black. When all your carry gear is black - mixing and matching equipment is a snap!

Last but not least, anyone who carries on a daily basis knows that holsters and belts tend to get scratched, bumped, nicked and worn. A little Lincoln or Kiwi shoe polish brings a black holster back to like new in a few minutes! :)

The way I do it.

The way it is up here we can't CC, but when I go to the range I like to wear tan shoes with pink shoelaces, with a polka dot vest with a white Panama hat with a purple hat band, so I think a nice tan fits quite well with chrome accoutrements and a blue steel saw.

Always try to match my holster to my belt! But here’s the question of the day?
Should my Black handgun match my Brown holster?
My black Glock 27 in my brown Don Hume holster, along with a newly purchased Hen and Rooster knife.
The knife has been a long time coming and I’m really pleased with it. Never pocket carried a knife that big before but I really like it!

My belts are all manufactured by the same provider as my holsters: Milt Sparks or Matt DelFatti.

The issue isn’t color or tooling: it’s holster-belt fit.

If your holster doesn’t fit the belt properly, you don’t have the benefits of good carry gear.

SHOULD HOLSTER AND BELT MATCH?

Yes !!!
I once caught my SIL wearin' a mis-matched belt and holster.
I told him, "Don't be a Neanderthal !"

Matching pant belts as well as matching cartridge pouch and buckle sets,

Business professional? Yes, please match. It takes much more time getting ready anyway so make sure it matches... I mean the tie alone...

Visiting friends? Out running errands? I don't care too much, it happens :o :p

I never thought of matching belt to holster, just used what was to hand, so I went and looked. Yep, brown holster and black belt, black holster with brown belt. Darn! So, I swapped ‘em. Well, that was an easy fix. Now’s all right with the world. Thanks!

The problem with brown leather (as Keith44 in post #15 shows) is that frequently “brown” leather when ordered can be any one of a large number of shades. Black is alway black, so you know what you are going to get will match.
