EDC holster for model 19 carry comp
Anyone have a model 19 carry comp for EDC? Basically a 3" K model 19. How do you carry it? IWB, OWB, AIWB? What holster do you recommend? I know when you look at the specs it is pretty much the same as a loaded G19.
I've been carrying in a AIWB Kydex holster but I'm thinking this weapon needs a good leather holster. I'm looking at Wright Leather and Garrett Industries Silent Thunder. Don't know if 1 polymer clip will support the weight of the gun in the Silent Thunder.
Would appreciate advice from folks EDC a K frame revolver.
Thanks

The Comp Carry is a sweet gun and deserves to be shown off, so I'd go with a Purdy OWB holster... DA Personal Carry Gallery

LOBO GUN LEATHER
Joe:
I have two K-Frames, model 65 & 66, both 3"ers. I use an Enhanced Pancake from Lobo. Look them up on the internet. Rather than a fixed style holster, you can choose FBI Cant, straight up 'n down, color, thumb snap, plain, basket weave, etc. All at fair prices. Father 'n son business, I believe. Also easy to talk to one of them on the horn.
Regards, Hank M.

Thank you. I'm glad to hear that IWB works with a K frame.

My 3" 66 was my basic weekend gun for about 10 years in the Summer Special.....I still carry it at the cabin and mountains.... IWB when I run into town. Weekend urban carry these days is more often a Performance Center Shorty-9 (6906) or Beretta Compact both IWB in a Sparks Summer Special or Executive Companion.
Good belt makes all the difference.... been using a Bianchi B12 (1.5") fancy stitch since the 80s .... more recently added a couple of the Wilderness tactical 5stitch Frequent Flyer belts... infinitely adjustable for IWB , OWB or no gun carry.

While I served as a Police Officer I did numerous plain clothes details particularly in the summer. I had my S&W model 13-2 modified to DAO and in this Safariland IWB holster that was well concealed by an untucked shirt or a light jacket. it was very comfortable to wear for a shift.

I carry mine in a Kramer horsehide belt scabbard. I don't like IWB, and in this holster the gun will conceal under a light shirt.

A good IWB leather holster for your 3" K-frame is the Don Hume H715-M.
I like this holster because they use 6/7 leather for a thinner profile. The holster doesn't feel bulky like some holsters made with thicker leather. The fit is great, the hold is true, it has a reinforced mouth, and the clip is excellent. IIRC, it is $35.
I use this holster for two of my CCWs positioned just in front of my hip bone (appendix carry position). My holster choice is with the sweat guard option.
The best price I could find for this holster is through Gunner's Alley, which sells Don Hume, MTR Custom Leather, and Gould & Goodrich leather products.

I carry my 2-1/2" M66-1 in a Triple K "Secret Agent" belt holster, a minimalist-type molded leather thumb break belt holster. I like it because the gun rides high, the muzzle is barely below my belt.
Since it is an open-bottom holster, my 4" M19-3 fits, too.

I also just bought a carry comp. I bought a JIT Don Hume. It's an inexpensive holster that works well with my Glock and SW air weight 442.
The carry comp is a little large with this holster compared to the other pistols/holsters mentioned. It works with a strong belt but I am thinking I will look for a better option
It seems to ride a little high and the weight is too much over the belt compared to the other ones. i'm still trying it out to get used to it. I don't think it's the one however
