Galco vhs 4.0 fit 6.5” model 29?

I really like the Galco vertical holster system 4.0, however their site says that system will only work up to a 6” model 29/629 however I noticed some of their holsters work for 6”/6.5”. Does anyone have any experience using this holster with a 6.5” model 29, or have any insight on this from experience with the vhs? I’ve asked galco directly but I haven’t heard back yet, if I do I’ll let you guys know what they say. Thanks!

Hi. This is a GALCO "Big Sky" model I bought around 1993. I don't know how it translates to newer naming/numbers but I can't imagine it would be much different. This is a 6 1/2 629. I very much like this system and have recently purchased another for a 4" 629. The only thing I see that is different between the two is how the shoulder straps are fixed to the length you want. The old system uses screws/ ferrule and the new uses a single piece stud. The new is a nice improvement. I suspect the 6" is a "typo" and that it would work fine for a 6 1/2 inch gun.

Hey thanks for the info! I also assumed it was a typo but they did get back to me and according to them the 6.5 inch won’t fit. I saw that falco makes a 6.5 inch shoulder holster for the model 29 so I might go with that instead. Thanks again!
