I picked up an odd lot of holsters today and it has a Roy's Leather holster marked GOV on the back. I will have to try it but I think it's for a 1911. Not much info I could find on the maker, Roy Baker. The other holster is a Ross marked N4. Looks like a large frame short barrel revolver holster. Any help with history and or what the holsters are for is greatly appreciated.

I have attached photos of my catch today. Roy's on the left is the most flexible by far. Ross, galco and Old El paso are the others. The newer holsters seem much thicker and less pliable than Roy's. That Old El Paso 1930 Austin basket weave holster retails for $170. OH MY>>>

GOV fits a 5" 1911 standard dust cover model. Baker operated from Magnolia AR. He produced quality pancake style holsters for a variety of handguns. Others will be along soon with more info.

BlueBeard if you do a S&W Forum search for Roys Leather Goods you will find a good amount of info on these excellent pancake style holsters that are still very popular today as they were back in the 1970s-80s.

I don't have quite that many. Do like the ones I have though. Recently picked up a 4" N frame type for a Model 58.

Whether it's a minus or a plus, I'm not sure but they are much more pliable than currently made holsters. Since they're pancake style concealment maybe a plus, lessens the printing.

Lots come up on eBay, a lot of times dirt cheap. The long barreled SA types seem to run a few big $$$ though.

I have had Ross holsters in the past, but don't have any now. They do make a pretty good holster.

I do have a holster by Baker the pancake maker. Shown here with my Colt's Agent. The extended
boot stocks are by Craig Spegel. Belt by James. The pancake is a little bit unique in that it's an open top.
It took a while to find it.

Crazyphil a beauty, lucky you to have snagged that open top Roys holster for the Colt Agent. A few years back I lucked out on a open top for the S&W J frames still looking for the same for a Colt.
