How do you carry your small J frame OWB?
I was looking for something small for under a T shirt during the hot summer. So I am picking up a SW 637 today that I found at a good deal. Figured I could also load it with snake shot at the lease.
I normally carry my 9mms on my hip between 3 and 5.
I was thinking on this one maybe a cross carry (never had one), since it is so small.
How does everyone else carry (on a belt) and what brand/model do you use?
I would like to have a sweat guard or something to help cover the hammer also, and maybe in leather this time.
Pics would be great of the holster, if you have it.
Thanks!

I've always preferred leather for my revolvers, specifically TTgunleather.
But in the Texas summer and sweating like a poodle in a mink coat, I've found my favorite hot weather holster to be this Pro-S from 2aholster.com. It keeps sweat off the gun and I never thought kydex could be so comfortable.

If you want a leather holster I recommend Jason Winnie.

Sam Andrews Saddle holster. Been carrying this for many, many years. One of the best holsters I’ve ever used.

Either a Roy Baker Pancake Holster or a Lobo Leather Pancake Holster. The pancake holds the gun close to the body and most of it above the belt to conceal the weapon.

Really it depends if I'm going to a BBQ. If so, then I'm carrying it in a Mernickle J-3, otherwise it's in a Triple K open top belt slide #246-3.
My small auto's go in either a JBP belt slide #036 or a JIT Slide #60 by Don Hume.
All are leather and well fitted to the firearms they carry. What I like best about these holsters is they are tensioned by the tightness of your belt. The tighter your belt, the tighter your pistol is captured. Now I have never been in a fist fight wearing a gun nor do I plan on it, but I do know that should it come about the gun will stay in place. Even when running I've never lost one to bounce or tumble.

If I am going to be driving very much I will probably carry my S&W 642-1
in the VAM (Vampire) by Ken Null, shown on the left.
Sometimes I like to carry in this vintage speed scabbard by Chic Gaylord
2nd from left.
Probably used most of all is this Shark skin pancake made by Rudy Lazano
aka Black Hills Leather. 3rd from left.
If I need retention, I like Bianchi's Lightnen. 4th from left.
I rarely carry IWB (Inside Waist Band) but when I do I kinda like
this one with shark trim by Delfatti. 5th from left.

I prefer my M649 as a pocket gun but I have both leather and Kydex for it. Maybe tonight I'll use the OWB leather and report back tomorrow how it felt - it's been awhile!

I have a Lobo Enhanced Pancake for my "J" frame. Also have older Galco and Strong pancakes that are in the rotation. Both are lined. The Lobo is a real masterpiece.

I've owned this little old Hunter for many years. It's a neutral cant, so if I'm driving a long distance, I can carry cross draw comfortably on my left side waste. Several J-frames, and my old Charter, have shared this holster.

I have really wanted to try a cross draw holster. I think I may try a DeSantis Roscoe. It looks functional at a good price and if I don't like CD, I can return it.
Anyone try one of these?

I am fond of the Sunday holster. This is an iteration of one from the King Ranch Saddlery but a Brill copy would work also.
They allow the revolver to be carried high and tight.

The Baker has the flexibility of strong side or crossdraw carry with its three slots.

Why not carry in the same position for muscle memory? And why is it’s smaller size more conducive to cross draw? It might be an ok driving position but reaching across your body is not nearly as tactically advantageous as drawing from your hip.

Because this is not my primary carry. I use an M&P Shield (summer) and a SF EMP (winter).
I am using this mainly for going to my property. Needed something I could carry and keep a couple of rounds of snake shot in it. Looking for a holster, that is not show quality/price, because it will be more of a work gun.
Anyone have any thoughts on this one? Just under $70

Short Answer - Leather Pancake
I have several Bianchi I've picked up over the years and they work fine , but any of the makers mentioned would be similar .
* For Me * , the 3 slot feature sounds better as a concept than in actual use . The other slot puts the gun essentially vertical . For Me , I want a cross draw with more of an angle .
I have used an old school " Hunter S style " holster with J frame . It certainly does what it does , but the catch is that it conceals as well as a 2in K frame in a pancake .
For purely field wear , I have a Threepersons I picked up somewhere over the years . I don't know if those are still a standard item with anyone , but El Paso or Lobo can certainly make one .

Most recently I’ve been carrying my J’s in this custom, pigskin-lined holster by our fellow forum member, Snubbyfan.

I've carried the M649 the past couple of days in a Galco Summer Comfort IWB leather holster on a 1.5" ranger belt made by Murray Leather of Aledo, Texas. I'm guessing OWB above was a typo because I knew the holster was IWB.
I wore jeans and a T-short tucked in with a lightweight vest over the shirt and it was very comfortable. I reckon I'll do it more often now that I have tried it again.
Note: I should give Dick Murray some real credit:
Welcome to Murray Custom Leather
(c) Murray Leather
He makes extremely high quality leather products but what he does not make are holsters. I have worn his belts for years.

I am not familiar with the new J frames. When did the cylinder release move to the top of the frame?

The gun is S&W's polymer called BG38, 38 special 5 shot double action to compete with Ruger's LCR.

I use a Bianchi 5B during hot weather because I sweat like crazy. The rest of the year my small guns fit in my right hip pocket or the bib of my overalls . I have a 5B for both my 32-1 and my Colt Cobra .

Been using a Galco Hornet holster. Good price and it is very well made. Tried it using just a regular every day belt and worked but didn't stay as tight to my body as I liked. Switched to a nice Hank's gunbelt and it works great. Use it for both an M60 and an M642.

On the rare occasion that I do, I just use a plain ol Fobus plastic paddle holster and throw a shirt tail or jacket over it.
