I have a 5906 and have been looking for a Level III duty holster for it. I found a holster on Ebay for a model 5946 SAO. My question is does anyone know if my 5906 will fit in this holster?
Your gun should work in that holster. The 5946 was the DAO version of the 5906.

Depends. The 5906 was made with three different trigger guard styles. Early 5906's had a long, hooked trigger guard, then there was period where S&W made them without the hook, but still long, then the final version had a shorter trigger guard. Trigger guard style affects the fit in holsters. Also, the slide on the 5946 is longer at the rear in order to hide the partially cocked hammer. A 5906 placed in a holster designed for the 5946 and has a retention strap over the back of the slide is likely to fit loosely.
