Default Classic Eubanks for a Colt Challenger

This holster was included when I picked up this 1950 Colt Challenger many years ago. Now this is my wife's .22 when we're out hiking. It shows honest wear and someone cut the back of the toe for a latigo. The basketweave is still prominent and is a head turner when she wears it. The TW signifies Woodsman, 4 1/2 is barrel length, but the 89 I have no reference to. Anybody have a Eubanks chart?

I have never been able to find a Eubanks catalog or chart. But they didn't make very many basic styles. No. 87 holsters generally are for revolvers, No. 89's are for automatics. The No. 820 is a Mexican Loop style, for single action revolvers. I used to own a nice flap style Eubanks for a 6" M&P revolver but I forget the model number. They probably made a few other styles but the Number 87 and 89 seem to have been their bread & butter models.

At least the application is usually pretty easy to figure out. As you mentioned TW was for The Woodsman and CC was for Colt Challenger. Their No. 89 holster are often marked HS for High Standard but they fit the 1st Series Colt Woodsman pistols perfectly as well.
I have a No. 87 that is just marked K22 and of course it will fit a K38 as well. I have a scarce No. 50 that is oak leave carved instead of the usual basketweave which is stamped RU 6 1/2 on the back. A Ruger Blackhawk Old Model fits perfectly. The No. 820 is simply marked 45 7 1/2 and fits most 7.5" single action, fixed sight SAA clones and of course Colt originals.

Thankfully they didn't go to a three digit code like Lawrence although at least lawrence charts are available. I used to keep a photocopy of the Lawrence charts with me in my gunshow backpack as I often found nice Lawrence holsters that were mis-identified.
