Default info on H&R arms company

I inherited a gun from my grandfather that i have been looking for info on for a while. It's an old H&R " hunter model " .22 with a 10" octagon bbl. 9 shot revolver, the bbl and cyl are blued and the frame is red (not rust) ANY info would be great.

The problem with those old 22 H&R's is when you load the 9 rounds not all of them will fire those old guns are known for --FTF--, and if you have the plastic grips they tend to break with normal use. That is what kept them from becoming very popular -I think-. I've owned two and a friend of mine also had one with the problems stated.

Your pistol is a large solid frame double action revolver made from 1929 to 1939 worth from $225 to $360 at 90 percent. always a good shooter, made on the Mdl. 922 frame

I've got a 99% Sportsman999. Top break 9 shot. Wood grips. Nice gun, the ejector star looks rather fragile. I'd like to find a 4"

I've had several H&R pistols in the past. Always reliable, no FTF's I can recall. Liked all brands of ammo. Had a Model 922 for a tackle box gun for snakes loaded with bird shot. Would peel a rattlers head quite nicely. And Yes the plastic grips sucked but wooden ones were available that were inexpensive. Besides when I fell in the creek I didn't want my prewar S&W dunked.
