Movie-The Road

That one looks like it might be good, Viggo Mertensen is a very good actor. Trench sight, large bore....my money is on a Model 1950 pre-21.

That is a spectacular novel. It took me days to get rid of the dreary mood the book created.

The movie seems to have too much explanation for the state of the world the characters are in.

The book leaves it all to the imagination of the reader. No beginning, no end. It makes you ponder what a person is and should be when there is nothing to live for.

Don't know about the movie gun but I read the book and I can't figure out how anybody would want to watch a movie version. Grey and depressing from the first page to the last with no hope anywhere in it.
Bleak describes it well, bellevance.

Viggo's gun is an M&P. The movie takes place several years after the event, whatever it was. (The boy was in utero at the time.) Its not really clear where he gets the gun, but he only has two rounds for it. In the book he finds some .45 and .30/30 ammo, but no gun to shoot them in. He fakes up some dummy rounds so his gun looks fully loaded from the front. Between the fires and the years of turmoil and scavenging by survivors its all he has.

Great book, hope the movie is half as good. The book is all about hope - even in the worst imaginable circumstances. I won't give away the end, but as the boy says, "we carry the light".
