Any airport you'll see them coming back or going-all deserve a handshake and hug.

Ken -

I turned 19 on July 2, 1970. I started flying CH47C Chinooks in January 1970, when I was still 18.
I was fortunate enough to have flown in support of the Australian Army, out of Ham Tan, some time in 1970. Can't be sure of the exact date as everything pretty much is run together. I do remember what a great bunch they were (and what a great mess they had when we shut-down for chow).
If you look closely at one of the Chinooks, second shot on approach, on the aft pylon, there are the two vertical bars of the 213th ASHC (BlackCats). There are no FOD screens, on the engines, so I know this was before my time. But, my time was coming.
I still remember this as the most exciting time of my life. Not good, not bad, just the most exciting.

Thanks - and thank you for your service.

Bruce
