I have a PA -63 in 9mm Makarov. It is a light gun and rough out of the box.I rebuilt mine by taking it apart and stoning internal parts that needed it and lubing things properly. It is a very good ,cheap carry gun and mine shoots just fine!

These come in 9mm Makarov, which is considerably less powerful than "regular" 9mm. It's more like an improved .380acp.

A friend of mine who is a lawyer in Budapest says that her father carried one in the Hungarian Army. He didn't like it, but I doubt that he had much experience with firearms.

They have also been available here in .380.

Some Walthers were made briefly by FEG before they split the sheets.

FEG made some Hi-Power copies, and I think the Chas. Daly example was one of them. I wouldn't trust them as much as a real Browning, but admit to never having tried one. The sole example seen in a store looked to be well made.

If memory serves, I think gun writer Mike Venturino carries a FEG .380 in his truck. He'd hardly rely on one if he didn't think it'd work.

I have a F.E.G. SMC .380 a all steel copy of Walthers PPK. They make a model with a alloy frame, but I can't remember what it's called.

Mine has always been %100 reliable with FMJ. (any brand) With HP's it's a 'maypop'. I don't think there were any HP's back when Herr Walther designed his PPK.

Good little guns. A Walther PP copy. Trigger is a little heavy and rough but fixable. Mine runs hollow points fine, and is a good shooter. Accurate and light weight good little carry piece.

well, as of last nite i own a feg pa 63. i was able to find one wityh the original box. now i just need a couple extra mags.
it was cheap enough so if it needs some adjustments it won't break the bank.
now, a CZ 82 & 83 are on my short list after i get my layaways paid off.
thanx for the input, it's all good stuff.

i liked em a whole lot better when they were $79.95. Double action trigger needs a chain hoist to pull it. Super accurate and reliable guns (despite the sub par sights).

I recently re-springed a pair of PA 63's. As stock, the DA trigger is very heavy. My wife can not pull the stock trigger through in DA. Wolff Spring sells kits that consist of different weight hammer and recoil springs. The 11# hammer spring made the trigger almost slick. A heavier recoil spring mitigates slightly the recoil of the 9X18 cartridge in the light weight gun. Total cost is under $25 and it takes less than 10 minutes to change the springs. Give it a try.

If you get one, stick a pen or pencil down the barrel and watch for any sign of movement when you decock the gun before you get too attached to your new toy. Particularly on the surplus models, the parts that compromise the safety/decocking mechanism are prone to wear. The one I had some years ago went bang when I decocked it. It drilled a 9x18mm round through a cheap comforter and into the foam of my futon which actually stopped it cold. I guess 9x18mm FMJ isn't the world's best penetrator, or at least the old steel case Norinco rounds weren't.

Trigger pull isn't great and FEG isn't exactly a prestige brand. They turn out serviceable but cheap pocket guns for the Europen trade these days, some sold under the Walther banner, but workmanship and quality is certainly nothing to write home about and were worse still under the communist days of yore.

I wholeheartedly agree that the FEG PA 63 has a very heavy trigger pull, at least the one we had did.

One day I was out shooting it and my wife came out to give it a try. I handed it to her and she attempted a shot then commented on the safety being on. I said, it's not the safety, that's the trigger pull

When I read the earlier comment about needing a chain hoist to pull the trigger I didn't think that statement was too much of an exaggeration.

Default Feg PA 83

Shot my new PA 83 for the first time today - accurate & light-to-moderate kick & yes, the DA pull is VERY heavy. SA is best.
Anyone kow where to get some cheap extra mags for this gun?
