Default Stevens model 416 US property

I just bougt 5 guns and one of them is a US property marked 416. I have never seen one that is US mark, it also has a heavy barrel,5 shot mag and very nice target sights. The finish looks to be parkerized. I'm going to be selling this, i have know idea what it is worth, looked in the blue book and it didn't give much infromation. thanks for your help...

I sold a minty non-US marked one last year for around $450.00. It's my understanding that the marked ones are worth more if original and unmessed with.

Your Stevens is a desireable target rifle. If you do not have a rimfire target rifle and have any interest at all, it would be a good one to keep. It's not a Winchester 52 or Remington 37 or 40X, but all the 416's that I have shot, including the one I own are scary accurate. One of the members at the gun club, of which I am a member is constantly whipping all comers with his!

I saw a rough but servicable example sell for 4 bills in Charlotte at the metrolina gunshow a couple months ago. It wasn't US marked. This would make a difference to a military collector. I talked with the buyer and he was replacing a gun that had been stolen. He wouldn't have anything but the Stevens 416, he reported.

I've owned one for years U.S. PROPERTY marked. They were military training rifles during WW2. The parkerized ones went through rebuild and the arsenal stamp where the work was done is probably on the stock somewhere. They are nice rifles and desirable to military trainer collectors. Unfortunately some collectors like to create a class war by crowing about their blued versions being somehow more desirable. Well, maybe to them. A rifle sent through rebuild is a bonafide military rifle with a history and don't let anyone tell you different. Still very desirable.
