In a word: slim pickin's. Well I guess that's two words. Probably just as well (the pickin's, that is); I was broke and went mostly just to get out of the house on one of our rare sunny days. Anyways; here's what I saw at a couple of small, but usually pretty good shows (Wurtenburgh and Rocky Groove).

1. Well, first what I didn't see was any....zero, nadda, zilch-o, K22's on any of the tables. Despite the high prices reported in other threads, there weren't any to be seen for sale. A dealer-buddy had bought one from another dealer yesterday and fiendishly showed it to me; undoubtedly sensing of my depleted financial condition,as well as my weakness for M17's. It was a near perfect, pre-17; sn 1239xx (1951; my birth year...sigh) with original box and grips. The grips looked like the plastic-medallion type and the gun was in around 98% condition. I may have to take some trade bait down to his shop later in order to attempt an acquisition. Hopefully, I'll be able to post some photos in a couple of weeks. Has anybody mentioned recently that K22's are addictive?

2. A nickle 29-10 3" offered at around $750. I was tempted, but fortunately some common sense and an empty wallet ruled the day.

3. One of those Thunder Ranch M25's (I didn't notice what dash number it was) offered at around $700. I've seen a bunch M24 TR's, but never one in 45 ACP. The guy claimed that it was unusual. I dunno about that, but it was a nice package: blued, 4" fixed-sight N-frame, and without the stupid TR golden slash. Once again financial reality set in, so I didn't get to fondle it for very long.

4. Saw a 4" M16-4, pretty beat-up; guy wanted $1000 for it. Yikes! Now that was just plain ridiculous, IMHO.

5. Found some CCI Standard velocity 22LR @ $19.95/brick. I thought that was a pretty good deal and bought a few. Most other ammo was still pretty high.

5. Found some old Western Super-X and also some Remington HiSpeed 6leanbore 22LR full boxes for $5.00 each; couldn't resist them for some reason. Also found an old box of Remington 38 S&W Blanks. Don't know what I'm going to do with them, but they were cheap, so they also came home with me.

7. Not much in the grip department. Picked-up a set that I though may be interesting; some k-frame, concave top, pre-war service grips. They didn't have any military cartouches on them,so I thought they may have been some kind of super-early commercial variant. Offered at $10...how could I possibly go wrong? Not until I got them home did I realize that they don't have a diamond around the escutcheons. Hmmmm...me thinks I just bought a pair of Spanish knock-offs. Oh, well; I've squandered $10 on worse things, I guess.

8. Stopped into a real nice shop up near Franklin PA; Mulsten's (or something like that). The guy has some very nice S&W's. Tops on my list was a pristine 4" 624 @ $700. See above for why it wasn't put on lay-away. Sorry that I don't have the name right, but if your ever in the Franklin PA area, it's probably the only shop around there and it's well worth a visit.

Well, that was my big adventure today. Looking forward to reading of other's exploits and observations. -S2

Whenever I go to show with no money to spend, Every other table seems to have one of my grail guns and they're priced below what I would be willing to pay.

$10 for grips that may not be what you thought they were? You got off easy! Buddy of mine did the same thing, only it cost him $50 for some Spanish wood.
