Default Great Movies of Charlton Heston, trailers,, themes

This was one of America's best actors of all time, and he had a majesty about him that few have managed to achieve. He is greatly missed. We shall probably not see his like again. Thankfully, his films remain.

What was YOUR fvorite Heston film?

What!! knowing the management here and you didn't put Planet of the Apes up?

Just kidding, Ben-Hur was mine, although I did enjoy Will Penny.

Treasure Island - Heston played a perfect Long John Silver. Too bad this movie has never been offered in DVD format.

55 Days At Peking.

Favorite line: "I'm a Marine Ma'am, I don't have time."

I wish I knew of that line when I WAS A MARINE!!!

Charlton Heston was one of my favorite actors also. I was fortunate to have met him & shook his hand at NRA Convention in Reno. Also bought his book there. He was a real gentleman. Favorite movie??? Ben Hur, Will Penny, The Westerners, to name a few. Had a bumper sticker during the Clinton years that stated "Charlton Heston is my president".

A few years ago I was in the fine gun store, Martin Retting, in Culver City, CA. In walked Mr. Heston, a regular customer there. He was dressed very modestly. His demeanor was very down to earth. Totally without pretense.

I approached him and thanked him for taking a stand against the rap song "Cop Killer" in the early '90s (he was then a Time-Warner share holder). He told me about reading the lyrics to the song at a Time-Warner shareholder's meeting, shocking the them, as you can imagine. Mr. Heston said he took more pride in taking that stand on behalf of LE then in winning the Oscar.

He also talked about the 2000 presidential campaign with relish, particularly the NRA's contribution to the defeat of Al Gore.

A very nice, decent gentleman, a fine actor and a classic movie star.

By the way...he bought a rifle that day for his grandson.

My personal favorite Charlton Heston movies: The Omega Man and Planet of the Apes.

There were many fine movies, but I have to agree with Klondike. Treasure Island was great. I keep waiting for it to come out on DVD.

About the time that I began reading Playboy regularly, maybe 1965-66, they interviewed Heston. (Wish they had such good interviewees now!)

He had been doing ads for Skippy peanut butter. I think he said that he preferred the chunky style. Maybe because it had more substance, like he did.

Does anyone else here recall that interview? Wish that I'd kept that copy.
