Default Well they got the deputy killer here!

Last wed a deputy from kane county utah was ambushed at fridona az by a local native american. The killer hit the boonies for 4 days. Supposedly he knew springs, and had supplys stashed in caves etc. Kane county only had a 12 man dept. He was caught early this am trying to break in someplace for food. Yesterday my wife and I were in the area and there was a army of leo there. We talked to a waitress who knew both the slain officer and the killer. Everyone is glad he was caught. We like rideing quad and it would have made it "interesting" had he not been caught. We rode near the area a couple days ago.

Glad they got him!
Thanks for posting.
Never ceases to amaze me how many of these violent perpetrators back down when it is time for face-to-face CQB.
Fox needs to send that Dan Evans to the mail room.

I read everything I could on him. They said he was a good student when young, claimed he was "bullied", got into drugs and drink. Even his cousin said he turned and had a death wish of suicide by cop etc. Quey sabe? He was well know to local leo,s as a violent trouble maker walking the edge. Seems he stold a friends AR-15, burglared the high school in fridona, pointed the rifle at a janitor, ran off and laid in wait. The utah officer and probley a ariz officer were ambushed, killing the utah officer and the other officer narrowly missed. Not in the news, but "elsewhere", I heard he stold the officers radio and I guess probley his gun. (That wasnt in the news either). He no doubt had a "heads up" untill the battery died. Friends of his thought it pre-planned and thought he had supplys stashed in spider holes etc. I been watching this since it happened. I even changed plans for a quad ride somewhat in the area. He might want a quad and blow us off? Kanob at the start of this was haveing a cowboy old actor event. Many people were there for that. You really would have thought he would have tried stealing a car if he didnt have one and get out of the area. Sounds romantic, hideing and liveing off the land, but you really couldnt do it long. I hit the boonies here probley more than anyone I personaly know. Its my big hobby. Very, very seldom have I done a days ride in the most remote areas and not met up with at least another quad, ranger, or whatever. Thats why I get a private charge out of all these dreamed up survival or doomsday senerios. They are interesting though! What we had here, was a native navaho, 23 years old and very fit. A native of the area that he supposedly knew like the back of his hand. Supposedly he had supplys stashed. He lasted four days.
There are a lot of nuts in the boonies. That is as good of a reason that I can come up with to pack.

What I think it is, nowdays every family around me has about two to three quads. Somewhere around 15 years ago is when quads started getting popular. The average public couldnt afford to keep horses. I got in the game late. Never rode a quad untill I retired and moved here to utah five years ago. In california they kept outlawing dirt motorcycles. Then it all started again with those 3 wheelers. They were haveing many accidents with them untill they outlawed importing them. Thats when quads took off. I know I am preaching to the choir with everybody that has them. Utah is probley the best state for trails and laws regarding quads. California trys to outlaw everything that is fun. There have been many quad trails built here. I am sure the average young person here has soon seen more of the back country here now then their fathers or grandfathers ever did in their lifetimes!
I wont, or cant argue how it has affected the wildlife because I havent lived here that long. I suppose the liberals and greenies hate them. They hate everything anyway. I will say I have seen many light budwiser cans scattered along the trails.
For my part I love the quads. If we didnt have them this 300 lb going on 70 year old fat boy couldnt get in the back country. Hows that for hi-jacking and getting off track on my own thread?

There were otherwise rumors, but of course the sheriff "publicly" made a statement that he hoped the guy would just call them and say I will be in such and such parking lot with my hands in the air. What happened was he tried breaking in a house and the owner called. There was something like 300 LEO,s still in town searching for him where normaly there probley wouldnt have been over three cops available! That tends to keep you going by the book, I would guess!
