Which of these will most quickly polish out fine scratches on a stainless gun or knife blade?

The only one that I've used is Simichrome, and it takes a lot of effort to see good results..

Without any scientific proof, only anecdotal, I find Mothers Mag to be a little more aggressive than Flitz. Never used Semichrome.

I have used Mothers with the small version of the power ball (drill attachment) to really shine stainless.

For more badly scratched Stainless I use 320, 400, 600, grit wet dry paper (wet). Even 220 for bad scratches followed by the finer grits and then a final with Flitz.

Avoid the engraving and logo with the coarse grit paper.

:) Mothers Mag is what I use. Don

I made a Model 67 police trade-in look like chrome plate with Mothers Mag polish. I just did a little at a time with a rag and finger pressure, no machinery, and lots of patience.

Dunno. Once heard it had something to do with difficulty in distinguishing something from shineola.

We use simi chrome polish on the plastic injection molds to smooth out the machining marks.

1. When I polish my stainless guns I save the use polish on the soft rag for my blued guns. It gives the blued guns a deep richness. Go softly.

2. On nickel it renews the factory shine plus hides the little handling marks.

Another vote for Mothers Mag. I recently got a nickel Model 37 that had several light scratches on it. Mothers Mag polish, applied lightly followed by liquid car wax, restored the gun to like new condition.

When I rub my 100 year old 1907, Swedish Mauser the dull bluing comes alive and she looks like the s&w or colt Python bluing. With the used simi chrome polish.

I think Semi chrome is a bit more aggressive than the other two-- I first used it when I had a motorcycle-- that being said, I have used Flitz on many a nickled gun with good results, I tend to worry more about results than time. I do have all three and this could be a timely question as I have an old 1905 arriving next week. :D From the photos I have seen it looks to be a pretty good shape, but I am sure some polish will be in order. What to start with is up for grabs until I have her in my hot little hands. Not sure how solid the nickel will be on this gun.???? Will keep you posted. I always dresses up my stainless with well oiled 600 wet dry paper. :)

Will keep this in mind, but I always thought paste wax had some water in it?? Why I use Renn wax. :)
