Default Problem with Titanium finish

This is my wife's gun (it's a Taurus, sorry if that offends anyone) which was in the safe for about a year and a half, was going through my collection and pulled this out considering it as a BUG and noticed the finish is in poor condition not really sure what happened she said she cleaned it the last time out. It obviously functions fine and would still be a good BU but if restoring the finish is in fact possible i would like to do so. ANY HELP is greatly appreciated.

IMO that finish is toast. While I have no idea at all as to the specifics, I'd suspect that it's either plated or a vapor deposition process. Either way it really doesn't matter, from the appearance you've got some corrosion going on under the finish. The cheapest way to get it looking decent is to have it refinished with some type of paint product for firearms such as cerakote. Since the base metal will determine the type of preperation needed, I'd let a pro do the work. As a Michigan resident, one source to talk to would be Customized Creationz, they've got a pretty good rep in this area. Just google the name and give them a call.

Looks like what you paid for, a refinish would cost more than worth.

If you don't have a moisture removal pack inside your gun safe then you should get one.

It is the best $10-20 investment that you can make to protect your guns (IMO it is more important even than cleaning them).

No moisture = no corrosion.

I learned this the hard way too - it is slightly off topic but I had a very nice German air rifle (blued barrel) that I left inside a foam lined rifle case after we had all been plinking with it one day.

Because this air rifle gets "cocked" each time with a sweaty hand on the barrel it had an area where the protective oil had been wiped away by lots of greasy hands. A couple of days later in the case and the barrel bluing was toast - a nice brown rust covered barrel where before there had been a very nice finish. I can't tell you how stupid I felt after that. We put our guns in these things to protect them and instead it ends up ruining them.

I don't know what kind of warranty Taurus offers, but you might want to call their customer service.....

Have 2 moisture removal packs, no problems with MY guns and I think its holster wear, as she was carrying it before the speed six in any case, do you think I could park it, because as is I doubt I could sell it and will probably keep it anyhow.
o and don't count on Taurus for customer service AT ALL. Thats why I usually stick to Smiths & Rugers.
