First, i am in NO way affilliated with these folks. Just thought this stuff was interesting and that you may enjoy it.

I found this product on the internet. It is a Phosphorescent pain that is supposed to be water proof, non-toxic, non-radioactive, and non-flammable. Life span is allegedly ten years. The small bottle I show was $13.00 off the Glow-On.com website. It is visible in the daylight as well. After a full charge (15 minutes) it is supposed to glow for 12 hours. I tried this and found it to be closer to 8 hours (and still useable).

You apply it with these little wooden sticks that look cheap but are actually perfect for the job. It can be layered for more visiblity and so far has stuck well. i covered mine in clear fingernail polish to protect it. I did the buttons on my Eotech sight and the flip sights on my 870. Cheap and easy to use.

Pic one shows the bottle. (very small)
Pic two shows one coat an hour after a 5 minute charge (used a flashlight).
Pic three is what it looks like with the lights on.
Pic four shows the sights on my 870 only a 10 second charge tho.

If it holds for 8 hours, that's pretty good. Not a bad price either, I imagine you can do a lot of three dot sights.

How many fire flies are stuffed in that little bottle?;)

Thanks,I think about fishing about as much as firearms.I can see another app.

I bought some powder years ago that does the same thing. Forget the maker. Mixed it with 2 part rod finish epoxy & painted some jigs with it.

Have some questions

I recently purchased my M&P 9mm Full Size, and I love it. I want to give it "Night Sight" capability without burning a huge hole in my as is tight budget. I have come across this "Glow-On" paint, and my question is: Will using paint such as this in any way affect the Smith & Wesson lifetime warranty? It's been a toss up between going this route, or Nightsighters, which are also reasonably priced, and to be almost as good as the pricier tritium and fiber optic sights out there. Any and all thoughts are welcome. Thanks in advance everyone :)

Go ahead and paint it, the little white dots will probably fall out by themselves. Mine went within a couple of weeks. (but I do shoot a lot) I just use a white correction pen to fill the little dimples in until they get washed out and then do it again. I'm a cheapskate.:D

HA! I did the same thing with my sites. I always thought it was because I was lazy though. I guess I'm a "lazy cheapskate"!

I cannot recommend Nightsighters based on personal experience. I'm a real cheap skate also, so I decided to "upgrade" from the glow in the dark paints to the "Nightsighters". I followed the instructions (yes, I do read directions and I still have my "MAN" card) to the letter, and the Nightsighters would not stay in place on my handguns (revolver or semi-auto), and with use, they would be gone very quickly following each use. I contacted the "company" (I believe it's a one-man shop) and he suggested that I reapply them using a tiny dot of crazy glue. Well, they stayed on longer, but with use, these also were lost. By haunting the "Accessories For Sale" section of the forum, I was able to buy a barely used set of Tru-Glow sights that are both fiber optic and (tritium) night sights for my M&P 40C at an extremely fair price (<$100.00). I've got to admit that thus far, the best use I've found for night sights (of any type) is that it makes it easier for me to find my pistol in dark or low light situations.

Best of luck,

Dave
