"Rust"...movie on amazon.

Some things actually improve with age. Violins. Wine.

Pity that Alec Baldwin's acting skills aren't one of those. He was marginally ok when he was younger. Now he's just plain...boring.
First thing I remember seeing him in was Hunt for Red October as Jack Ryan. He sucked in that and IMHO, everything since then.

My understanding is that the movie was completed at the request of the victim's family, and they would receive a chunk of whatever proceeds realized. It was part of the settlement.

Cheyenne Autumn was John Ford's Mia Culpa for all the westerns he made where the Indians were the bad guys.

Rust must have been so bad that no one would distribute it and risk losing millions of dollars, thus right to Amazon. A few years ago it would have been "Direct to DVD."

I was pretty surprised "Rust" actually made it into production. The whole set where it was filmed looks like it cost $1.98 to put together.
I watched Cheyenne Autumn the other day, I always liked that movie even with it's sad story.

Is he as good a western actor as Clint Eastwood? I don't think Clint ever actually shot and killed anyone while making a movie.

...and probably found in the $1 bin in front of the store. Along with the public domain/non PC cartoons from yesteryear and notable SciFi movies "The Beast with Three Heads from (the seventh planet of our solar system)"

Roger Ebert gave it a poor review. His last paragraph sums it up well:
When the last echoes of that fatal gunshot fade and new viewers can experience “Rust” as a movie rather than a crime scene, it might be reevaluated with detachment and found less wanting. That day is a long way off.
You can find his entire review here. https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/rust-movie-review-2025

This film will never make it to my "must watch" list.

Charlie

As much as I like a good Western this is one I won't watch. Not an Alec Baldwin fan at all.

No comparison, Alec Baldwin isn't worthy of being mentioned in the same paragraph with Clint Eastwood.

Here you are...
