My wife (an alcoholism and substance abuse counselor) is visiting her sister and kids in the Cary, N.C. area....

....which, I've come to learn from this forum, Cary stands for Containment Area for Recalcitrant Yankees. :D

I'm having a JD and Coke as I type this....

You can add Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill to that list. Oh, Charlotte, too.

Great idea, i like your Karma

I'm in please :D
I could realy use a JackDaniels, thank you ;)

Evan Williams. Better. Cheaper. Eighty-six proof to JD's 80 proof.

The basic premise is good, though.;)

I thought the Yankees in NC were called "halfway-backers." They moved to Florida. It was too hot for them, so they moved "halfway back."

Is Gentleman Jack any good? I was just given a bottle of that whiskey for feeding a guy's dogs for a few days.

Nah...my in-laws moved from here straight to NC over ten years ago.

She's a nurse, he sells heavy equipment.

They even have fake Southern accents now. :D

I've heard it said down here...

That Yankees are kinda like what you use Prep H to treat....

When they come down and go back up... they're a minor irritation.

But when they come down and stay... they're a major pain in the 'back end'.

I never could find anyone who knew the difference between the green label Jack D. and the black label, so I called the company.

The black label gets an additional year of aging. But we're only talking the difference between four years and five.

BTW, a book that I have on Scotch (Thuer mentioned Famous Grouse) says that it improves little beyond the 12 years used by many producers.

That suits me: the longer booze matures in wood, the cancer risk increases. Or, so I've read.

Charles Askins told me that he thought that Skeeter Skelton's lethal throat tumor arose from drinking too much and smoking heavily. Bill Jordan told me that whiskey "riled up" the body too much, and he preferred vodka. I guess I should mention this, this being a gun board. ;) It is true that certain gun writers drank far too much. I knew one very famous one who had trouble staying sober at writers' conferences sponsored by gun companies. He sat next to me at breakfast once and poured Scotch in his tea.

It's your booze. Ruin it as you please. ;)

Coke goes in cheap whiskey.

My Grandpa used to drink Chivas & Dr. Pepper. He didn't give a rodent's derrier what anybody thought of that. :D

No it's horrible. The only thing worse is Single Barrel. Send it to me and I will properly dispose of the vile thing.
