This was a horrible crime. But pick up any paper in any city on any day and you'll find equally or worse crimes against kids. But why is this one hogging up three cable news channels right this second? And every day? If a guy puts his parakeet in the microwave and kills it and Nancy Disgrace and every news channel covered it 24 hours a day, just harping on it and riding it to death, I think it would be as big as this case. I just get glimpses of this case on TV and was amazed to see people who watch this stuff religiously, go to the grandparents house and stand on their lawn screaming at them. What type of person allows themselves to get so worked up listening to Nancy Grace all day every day, for example, that it motivates them to get so crazy to carry pitchforks and torches to these peoples house?
This whole thing is more an expose of the twisted priorities of people. Ask them who Casey Anthony is then ask them who the vice president is and see what they say. And the news channels! "The moon is about to collide with the Earth. But first we go to the Casy Anthoney trial!!"

Every now and then something like this is picked up by the media and they run with it. Unfortunately there are too many people out there who think that since it's on the news it is important. For some reason this has become of interest to many people... which in turn means good ratings.

The whole family needs to be taken away, either to prison or to an insane asylum and the defense attorney should be disbarred. None of them is believable.

Pretty white mom, pretty white toddler, supposedly coming from a "good" family.... IMO, people like to see those who might be seen as more successful or more affluent than themselves stumble and fall. If this Mom and this family have fallen this far, it makes your divorce, bad marriage, kid with drug problems, etc. seem more normal. Seeing something like that makes your everyday problems seem petty.

I'll buy that explanation. There's a white trash family murder that includes torture and despicable things done to kid that lived maybe 10 miles from me. Been in the news at least two months. This case makes Anthony look like a princess model mommy.

all the nasty old blisters in the FL state pen or where ever this going on are gonna enjoy that pretty young thing.

The media thinks that this is something we give a damn about and are crammin' it down the throats of the sheeple.

I kinda think floods and such is more important, but the victims cain't afford to buy advertisement time on the tube.

PLEASE.. just be glad you don't live HERE in Orlando... I have given up watching the Local News.. ( which in itself may not be a bad thing ;))..

I have gotten to the point when somebody says Casey Anthony.. I reply WHO CARES!!...and walk away..

Why do we have things like the Maury show, or the Jerry Springer show? Why do people slow down and rubberneck at wrecks? Why do gossip magazines sell? Why do paparazzi stalk celebrities (most of whom are spoiled rotten brats who wouldn't be welcome in most of our homes) if not to cater to our needs to catch them in something tawdry or embarrassing?

People love to indulge themselves with other people's misery...it makes their own pain seem less, and distracts them from their own vapid lives. The more salacious the content, the more interest it generates. It is, unfortunately, apparently human nature, fed and encouraged by the media who have no scruples and only want to make money by pandering to our basest desires.

I think the heinous nature of the crime draws many people...hoping to see the perp get what she deserves.

Currently visiting my mom on the east coast...the NYC and Long Island area is up in arms over the scum bag who robbed a Pharmacy last week and killed FOUR innocent people including a 17 yr old girl. I'm surprised how much news time the case is getting.

Then again I lead a sheltered life in Montana. It's probably more about ratings than anything else.

FN in MT

Bread and Circus for the Sheeple.

Rule 303

...and so is anything related to Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Amy Winehouse, Lindsey Lohan...the list is endless.

I'm sick of the whole bunch of them. Especially since the suspect is gonna walk for lack of any serious evidence...or will do so on the 10,000 + years of appeals that will come if a gulity verdict comes in.

1. Horrific crime
2. She's smokin' hawt.

That's about it. Plus there's nothing else really important going on in the world at this time...

Media creation. Yes, horrific crime. No she is not hot. She is a narcissistic party skank who doesn't even know who Kaylee's daddy is. Kaylee (the victim) is lost in this circus. God bless judge Perry. He used to do competency hearings at the mental hospital I used to work in. Hard to find a finer human being, although his "plodding" style can be unnerving. Joe
