Got a Kindle
Swore I would never buy one these dang new fangled electronic book thingies but my buddy had two and gave me one. This thing is awesome! It takes a little getting used to not turning the pages but wow is it nice for curling up with a good book. Currently working on the new Clancy thriller. This one came with about two dozen books already downloaded so it will keep my lips moving for a while. If you like to read and haven't tried one you should.

I have been looking at getting one. My biggest concern is that I will lose the darn thing.

My wife has one and loves it. No more full bookshelves in every room. It's also easy to read in bright sunlight.

I have one and love it. It's even better for those who love to read old books, for most are free thru Amazon or Gutenberg. I'm just finishing the Leatherstocking Tales by James Fenimore Cooper.

My wife wanted one, so I got one for my birthday. Last time I saw it, she was reading from it.

...never would have bought one for myself but the family got me one for Christmas. Took me about a week to get used to it now I love it. Just finished "Winds of War" and "War and Remembrance" by Herman Wouk. Unfortunately the ones I want are not cheap. I just downloaded "The Secret Knowledge: On the Dismantling of the American Culture" by David Mamet. The Kindle edition is $14.99. One thing nice about the Kindle is the free 3G service and the wi-fi you can pick up for free when away from home. We RV plus the wife has Dr visits that are out of the area and lengthy so with the Kindle I can read, do e-mail, and read a couple of web pages. YOu cannot surf the web with it but there are a few public domain type sites like Drudge that you can access without a subscription.

Got my Grandma one for her B-day a year ago. Spoke to her last week and she still hasn't figured out how to use it.
Got her a gift card to amazon for this years B-day- before I knew she hasn't even used the kindle yet. Sheesh.

Guess I'm old fashioned. I like books. Real books with real pages. I like to hold the book, turn it's pages, savor it's smell. It saddens me to witness the gradual passing of printed books and newpapers. Although around here the newspaper isn't worth the paper it's printed on. No Kindle for me, thank you. Just give me a gift card to Books a Million.

There is "room" for both types of books - real and electronic. Gave a Kindle to my wife for Christmas - she loves it - as a former English/Reading teacher, she is never without a book to read.

I read a lot on my computer, so I'd do fine with a Kindle. The one thing about e-readers that bug me is that the concept of a "page" isn't the same as in a paper book. I'm sure I would get used to that, but frequently when I read a book, I remember "where" in the book something is in case I want to reread it. That too would be quickly replaced by a search function -- in my opinion, the most valuable part of e-readers. Well, maybe second most valuable if you count the ability to carry dozens to hundreds of texts at one time.

I do not miss having a paper book and what to do with it after I have read it.Very few books I want to keep an re-read.
For $3.00 I bought 25 Zane Grey novels on my Kindle,3 Owin Wister novels for $.99(Every man over 50 should read the Vriginian) Unbroken by Laura Hildebrand is an amazing true story of Louis Zampini, first man to be picked to break the 4:00 min mile but WWII made hero out of him instead.Really what's not to like ? Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand is long and wordy but lots of it is very valid today.I read more now than ever.

I too thought I only liked "real books", but after reading my first book on Kindle (now 40 or so books ago), I soon realized this is the only way to go. Haven't read a hardcopy book since and may well never again.

My daughter gave me one for fathers day and I like it, also the fact I can read and send e mails from mine on my g-mail account. Also have been able to access the internet and read the forum via my wi-fi system makes it convenient. They still have a lot of work to do on the browser but it does manage although is very slow compared to my cpu.
