My newest project
With my arm on the mend (actually waiting for surgery so have not officially started mending anything) I sold my 1980 Ford F-150 (and many other things) and picked up this 1974 F-100 which was in light years better condition. It has a 360 automatic and was a North Carolina truck. I got it fairly cheap. A friend of my fathers is going to take it and pull the motor (which does run but needs some freshening) and he is going to change the seals, some gaskets, and repaint it and put on some new manifolds (one has a crack) and then run a set of duals with some Thrush glasspacks. It needs a little tinkering but it is still in very nice shape for an old survivor.

When you get it fixed up you will cause all kinds of wrecks. People will not watch where they are going, they will be watching your truck. We also need to see some before and after pictures. Don

You sound like my brother in law. He absolutely love those Ford trucks around that year. I'll bet in the 35 years or so that I have known him, he's had at least 20 of them in various versions. He currently has a 3/4 ton flat bed 68 or 69 with a 390. It is nice but when he got it the drive shaft was twisted like I have never seen, and the frame is slightly bent.
Heck, that truck of yours already looks better than a lot of the rigs I have had to drive!
Good luck with it,
Gordon

Sounds like it's your father's friend's newest project.

1974 was a good year for trucks....
But mine is a '72 (and a Chevy)
I have been slowly getting it back to nearly new condition. I get looks and compliments everywhere I take it. One of these days I'll post some photos of it.
Good luck with yours...it looks like a fun ride

Looks a lot better than that rusty ole '80. Watch that 360, though. If you don't keep your foot out of it, they'll drink a lot of gas.

I've got a '51, all older Ford trucks have a soft spot in my heart and yours is a keeper! Be sure to show us when she's back on the road.

If only they would make them like that again. Lose all the electonics, the gadgets, and wires going to everything. You know, back when you lifted the hood and you could actually see the engine??? I know it will never happen but you can't help but dream when you see trucks like this.
