I had an old .375 h&h mag Savage lever action. It kicked like an angry mule and was way too much gun for any sensible use but, I wish I still had that dang thing.

I have 3 rifles in 375 H&H & not one of 'em has ever sniped anything. What I gotta do to fix 'em?
They all shoot really well, but not one of 'em is black. Is that the problem?

I bought a new Model 70 Winchester in 375H&H in 74-75. I love it. I lived in Alaska at the time. Good rifle for up there.
Of course I kept it when I retired and moved to Wyoming.
As I got older, and lazy, I got to the point I don't want to follow blood trails left by Elk. I figure the 375 lessened the chance of that. Turns out I was right. Every elk I've shot with it only made it about 2 feet, and that was straight down.
As I mentioned I got wimpier. I put a muzzle brake on mine. Its about like shooting a '06. It also shoots as flat as an 06 and is quite accurate.
Long a go I got a special bullet mold for 375 bullets. It uses a short piece of 3/8 copper tubing. Set it in the mold, pore in the lead and you have a jacked bullet. A lot cheaper then store bought bullet. FAirly accurate, the mold throws 270 grains.

Hornady and Serria both make 300 gr, Spitizer boat tails their BC is wonderful. I was going to "Sniperize" my Weatherby Mark V in 375 H&H, but to get the higher BC's of 338 Lapua you need to be in the 350-400 weight range so I went with 338. I've been working with 375 for around 32+/- years. My Best friend had a CZ action Wentworth Express in 375, using the leaf sights, he took a ground hog at around 300 yards with Winchester factory 270 gr (about 25 years ago). Those 300gr BTSP at factory volocity are 14 inches flatter shooting than 300RN at 200 yards (and about 1000 pounds harder hitting!) Good brass (match quality) is impossible to come by, so buy around 300-500, weigh them out, when you have 100-150 at +/- .5 gr., sell the rest and match prep them (Norma is a great place to start). The Serria have no cannalure, the Hornady do. If you are looking for an improved type chamber, I would sugest you look real close at the 375 Weatherby round. A gain of about 250-300 fps. over H&H and still fires H&H loads at about -50fps. A lot of old Africa hands liked 21 inch barrels; for your reach out gun, I would want 26" Minimum. Look for loads with Retumbo or US869 with heavy bullets. If you want a bigger case you might think about a 375x338 or the Chytech 375 case (505 Gibbs in 375). At any rate I would want a good muzzle brake! Have fun, Ivan

They've already been there. A friend of mine, who at one time headed the USAAMU, has a marvelous collecction of sniper rifles. One of them is a 375 Win M 70 with Lyman 48, that was used to get inside a building during an encouner somewhere.

I think I'm gonna make it look a lot like a longer Vietnam sniper.

I wondered if he ment he had a lever gun in 375 Winchester, the "94 Big Bore" and Marlins were both made in that round. It is a modern high pressure version of 38-55. Also, I can't think of any lever action by Savage or anyone else that would handle mgnum length cartridges.
