Florida has no requirement to tell unless asked. Don't ask don't don't tell.
I would go by the State Law
Plus this , which has be shown before.
open carry a gun don't talk to the cops - YouTube

Operative word is "asked".
Happened to me last year. I was stopped ![Frown](https://smith-wessonforum.com/images/smilies/frown.gif) and while getting out my license the officer spotted my permit and asked "Are you carrying this evening sir" and I replied "No, not a the present, but thanks for asking". The rest went okay, but the nice officer still gave me a speeding ticket.

While I certainly admire Mas' expertise, with all due respect, there is no duty to inform in Arizona. Let me quote from the letter accompanying the issuance of the CCW by the AZ Dept. of Public Safety:
"For safety reasons, if contacted by a law enforcement officer while carrying a concealed weapon, we suggest the following:
* Keep your hands in plain view.
* If requested, produce the permit and weapon to the officer. The officer may take possession of the weapon, for safety reasons, until the contact is completed."
Notice the words "if requested".
Regardless, I'd avoid the use of the word "gun" and respectfully ask the officer how HE wants to proceed.
Most cops in AZ tap into the computer data base of CCW holders as a stop is initiated, and will pretty much know in advance if the owner of the car is licensed before approaching the car. In view of this, I'd keep both hands on the steering wheel until permission is granted to do otherwise.
John

Do what applicable law REQUIRES, nothing more nothing less.
When people start rendering "courtesies" not mandated in law, they become de facto requirements, then the demands escalate.
In Ohio, we're required to notify, IF AND ONLY IF, carrying. I was stopped tonight for a debatable traffic issue. I don't know if it was valid or not, but it's trivial enough to just do something different next time.
I work at a posted facility, so never carry before I go home for the day. I had my license, registration and proof of insurance ready. Cop explained the "offense". Took my drivers license and ran it. He came back and asked if I was "supposed to tell him something". I said, "Yes, IF I'm carrying." He tried to talk me into notifying when NOT carrying. I told him I'd "take it under advisement". Translation: "I'm NEVER notifying when not carrying."
No ticket and it didn't even last long enough to get his name. I suspect that he was testing me to see if I knew the law. He's free to REQUEST anything. If it's not required by law, I'm free to not do it, and I most certainly will not in the future if it comes up.
I may or may not have committed a minor traffic infraction. I was ***100%*** in accordance with Ohio law regarding carrying a concealed handgun. I never intend to do anything else.
Notification needs to END in Ohio. As the Canton and Beachwood debacles have demonstrated, it's an open invitation to abuse and criminality. This cop fortunately knew he could only express a PREFERENCE, one with no more force of law than him REQUESTING that I not carry on Wednesdays.

I have never had an issue with stops in CA. The officers have always been polite when informed of the CC. I always mention BEFORE reaching for the wallet. They tend to act funny if they spot the gun before you tell them. The only issue I have ever had was when one officer went to place my 1006 on the roof of my car. He wasn't thrilled when I asked him "not to scratch my paint."

Mas usually has pretty good advice on a lot of gun related things. IMO, and with respect to him, I will follow the law, no more, no less.
In AL, we only have "inform if asked"; hence, if any LEO is really interested in whether or not I have a weapon, I'm not going to try and read his mind; if it's important to him, he'll ask. If it isn't, he won't and I won't try to tell him otherwise.

Calm, respectable demeanor and keep your hands in sight.
Don't drink and carry, especially if you are driving.
Brain first, mouth second. Frisky is for your dogs.
Wear hat with bill in front.
I like the "keep seatbelt on" tip.
