S&W Forum Blocked
I often web surf this forum most lunch hours at work but as of yesterday it is blocked by our system as are all web sites referencing guns, shooting and knives. I don't own the system or make the rules. I do agree to abide by them. i'm just not sure why the Army is suddenly opposed to shooting sites.

That's a question nobody can answer. But once I read a column about soldiers coming into the Army. It went like this; Every politcian wants to disarm America but want their soldiers to know how to shoot.Go figure.

That's a Bales after affect put in place by some chair warmer in the Pentagon, would be my guess.

When the Secdef. met with the troops after the alleged Bales shootings all attendees were required to leave all weapons outside the meeting area. As I understand it this was the first time that has ever happened in a combat zone.
According to the local news last evening, for the first time ever Fort Bragg is considering not allowing military personal who live off base to keep firearms in their off base housing. All weapons will be secured on base.

I have the answer. They want you to work. They know if you get a chance you will sneak a peek at the S&W forum during working hours. Just kidding. Don

Very sad. My computer at my workplace has the same block
on it. I went to check the "Forum" at break one day not too
long ago and got the same message about "mentions guns"
etc... blah blah blah... It's their system so they make the rules
i guess. Kind of weird about the military doing this though.

That's one reason why I have an Android phone. Cleveland Clinic blocks S&W forum, but NOT several other firearms forums. It seems totally random.
If I want to check out S&W Forum or Ohioans for Concealed Carry, I use my phone.

Many work sites control the access their computers have.
A law firm I know well has blocked all games from being accesssed on their computers.
A RV park I know well blocked all adult sites.
A city police department I deal with often has their computers blocked from internet access without a code and they will not allow anyone to bring a disk or flash drive from home for use in a city computer.
But AOL is anti gun in a major way and, at one time, would not allow any gun forums to be accessed using their ISP.

If AOL blocked gun sites it was a a LONG time ago. I've been using AOL since they charged $2.95 an hour and have never been blocked from anything that I've ever tried to access. I'm using them right now.

Not sure about right now but there was a major stink about AOL censoring firearm sites a few years back. This was during the heydays of Compuserve and others. Likely still some mention of it on the internet. I left AOL for that, among other reasons.
I just googled "AOL censorship guns" and found many other places discussing how, why and other things about AOL anti gun stance.

More than a few years ago(1999) the city gave access for Command Officers to have unrestricted access to the internet for department business (email & research) with one caveat - the Chief made it very clear " you have NO expectation of privacy while on any computer, telephone or any other electronic device owned by the city". He said this about five times during this staff meeting (I think he made his point). Nevertheless, it wasn't long before 2 or 3 of the people that were told 5 times that day and at later meetings missed the point and were called into the Chief's Office for "retraining". One day I'm at the computer - on an allowable site and the pointer takes off on it's own. About 30 seconds later I get a call from one of the IT guys says - sorry we have to clean up some thing on the computer your using and the HR director is here.
The antennas went up and sure enough, IT showed up and swapped out the hard drive. Within a week another Captain was called in and was on the chopping block. He said his visits to "questionable sites (porn) were ok because the Chiefs' warning did not include him - it did. Thirty days later he came back to work with a third strike warning in his pocket.

We have a web site here in Tennessee that you could buy or sell just about anything that was legal. I may be wrong but I thought it was AOL that made them stop advertising guns. They just started another site with guns only and it's been doing fine. Don
