But how many have seen a Frontier Defender in 44/40?

(Notice they got it as 44 CFW instead of 44 WCF)

The Belgian's most likely borrowed the "44 CFW" stamping from Remington Arms!! Alot of their 1875, 1888 & 1890 "44-40" Single Action Revolvers were stamped that way if they had caliber markings on them!!
