Default .50 GI?

Guncrafter Industries

As some of you may know, they make a 1911 in .50 cal. GI. Unobtainable here in CA for us mortals, however I can get a Glock 20 conversion unit, also works in the 21. Yup, it's got my interest, but can't figure out why.

Us Americans always like bigger and better.

Doesn't interest me much except that I would like to shoot one. Friend mine is goind to buy a conversion for his G21.

So maybe I will get to shoot one.

there's that old 1911 internet saying that goes something like, "why do I carry a .45? - Because they don't make a 46." Well, I think its just like stated above. Americans like bigger. Muscle cars, loud Harleys, and on. The coolest thing about the GC lineup is that they are all built around the standard milspec size 1911 and can be had with interchangeable barrels in 50 and 45. The new guns in the lineup are super cool too..The No Name, and the Model 3 come to mind. The bobtail commanders look swell too. I'd like to shoot one for sure. It's definitely a reloader's gun though.

They offer loaded ammo, both lead and Barnes type.

I would have a 2 caliber capability for my g20. Since the same kit is for both the 20 and 21 I could conceivably get a g21 conversion too? Only need a 357 sig barrel. I would pass on the .40. That would definitely be pointless on a 10mm gun.

I found a pice of .50GI brass in my range pickups. It swallows a .45ACP.

Personally, I'd go .460 Rowland before .50GI.

I've got the 460 Rowland, and agree it's a more "impressive" round ballistically, but I still like the idea of the 50GI just because I like things bigger than smaller. This is the 50 next to a 45ACP.

I am interested in Guncrafter products and contacted Alex Zimmermann. They offer 10% Military discount (I know, Wilson Combat does too) and have firearms in stock. Alex sent me these links to watch and all I can say is I want a Model 3 in .50GI.

Here's a link to an interesting article on the 50 GI conversion
unit for Glock 20/21:

Here's a link to the 230 CHP ammo "in action", performance in
ballistic gel:

And here is a link to shooting the 50 GI with Silencerco's Osprey

Our 1911 in 50GI have been CA approved for a long time. Just thought you should know.
