OH NO!
Howdy,
I'm late to the game, but I just had a "Oh no" moment a couple of nights ago.
It was late and I was messing around in my room. Mary was sleeping downstairs directly below me so I was trying to keep the noise down.
I was switching to a red ramp front sight on a 6" 27. I taped the gun up to protect it and went to tap the cross pin out that holds the front sight on.
It does not take much to mark up a gun, but I was careful and trying hard not to hurt anything.
I could not use the bench block and drive the pin out because of the noise that would make so I sat it in my lap centered up on the pin with a punch and gave it a good rap. Nothing but no damage so I lined up again and gave it another good rap or two. Nothing.
Hmmmm... This was going to take some effort. I lined up and gave it a great whack. The punch followed the pin through the gun driving the pin flush into the top of my thigh. I mean flush. I couldn't pull it by hand but was able to squeeze underneath it and it popped out where I could remove it.
Woke up the wife, caught the devil from her, learned a couple of new dance steps and how not to change a front sight.
Thanks and I enjoyed some of these post a lot.
