Just when you think you heard the worst about Chicago
The stable for these horses is on the property of the old South Shore Country Club. Used to be a ritzy shmitzy area 50 years ago. Now even Chicago PD horses are mugged. What a town. Chicago is not My kind of town.

That stinks. I hope they catch them and charge them with assault on an officer. I've seen similar charges handed out in the case of the K-9's.

I really understand how much training goes into horses and dogs. Police department work adds a whole 'nuther layer of training. I hope the horses recover and aren't spooked for good.

Why not just brand them on the chest with a horseshoe? Then let the riders have them for 10 min of hard knuckle drill.

Wow, that's low.
I thought for a minute your post said seen the worst to come out of Chicago. I was getting ready to add, I'm pretty sure I've seen the worst thing to come out of Chicago.

The fellers that did that wouldn't want me to catch up with them. I put a far higher value of horses than men.
Court and execution wouldn't take long.

In upstate SC some (insert expletive here) shot two horses to demonstrate a handgun he was selling. One horse survived. The perp was arrested. They are looking for the buyer.

As far as I know or have read, it is the same as assaulting a human LEO. Maybe some of the on board LEOS can verify this.
A Police Dog was shot and killed here recently and they had the full honors and all. The dog or horse is the K9 officers partner.

Chicago police facilities have virtually no physical security or access control. People have been walking in and out of them, virtually at will, for years.
A few years ago, they had a kid who dressed up in a fake "police" uniform who was REPEATEDLY caught inside police facilities.
They've also had lightbars disappear out of police yards.
You can draw your own conclusions about the possibilities inherent in:
- fake uniforms
- stolen lightbars
- no access control
Addendum:
Al Qaeda really is on its deathbed if it can't take advantage of all of the opportunities which Chicago has literally thrown at its feet. Trusting to luck is a REALLY bad strategy. Just ask somebody who was in the Red Army in 1941... or in the WTC on 9/11/01... or in the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi last week.
People better pray that Ayman al Zawahiri continues to be more like C. Montgomery Burns than Ernst Stavro Bofeld...

If/when these jackwagons are caught they need to tie their arms to a northbound horse and their legs to a southbound horse and let er' rip.

Actually I think they ought to have to muck out the stalls for a month or two and I think they ought to have to work (free) in a Veterinarian's office for a while. They need to gain some empathy for animals.

I know you mean well, but nobody like that has empathy for PEOPLE, never mind animals.
If you put somebody like that in a vet's office, they're FAR more likely to aquire animal tranquilizers on the sly than "empathy".

Chicago PD has put up a $5,000 reward for info. That's 250 crack rocks, so somebody will turn them in.

I used to LOVE going to the Loop & The Museum of Science and Industry around Christmas time. The trees at the museum and the lights of downtown are awe inspiring at that time of year.
No more for me and mine though.
It's like *they* are setting us up for the bad guys - But, WHY? I don't get it........

The company I worked for contracted with the Museum to repair all the cash registers in their restaurants and gift stores. I spent a lot of time there working in the 70's. The Curator of the museum was a nice little guy in his 60'S. He truly loved his job and his favorite was "Christmas around the World" with trees and exhibits of the Christian countries of the Earth. I got to tour the attic in the museum that's closed to the public. There's a whole other museum full of stuff in that attic. The museum is left from the Worlds Colombian Exposition in 1893.
The barn where the PD horses are kept is around the Lake Michigan bend two miles south of the museum. It's on the old country club property (now called the South Shore Cultural Center) and fenced all around (gigantic place). Police trailer the horses to various parks, beaches, and events where crowd control is necessary. Apparently there was no one regularly on duty at the barn. I'll bet there is now.

We had a group of these self appointed animal "rights" idjits release about 9000 mink from a mink farm around here a few years ago. They promptly destroyed a nearby chicken farm. After that, the mink began starving to death, were getting run over, and generally died in ways I wouldn't wish on (almost) anyone. So much for really caring about the animals welfare.
As far as the perps go, if CPD buys the plane ticket, I'll supply the guns and ammo......

I'll bet there's not, or at least there won't be for long.
They don't secure their other facilities, why that one?

I'll concede you could be right, and any CPD manned security won't last long. In the short run though it would be a real black eye for the CPD if the barn was raided again.
Who knows what evil lurks in the heart of Rahm Emanual. One of his pre election promises was 1000 more cops on the street. Instead of new hires he's had all the stations emptied of desk jobs and those men put on the street.

News this morning reports two young freaks were picked up for committing this atrocity. There was a $6000 reward for info, which probably was the only reason they were caught. Somebody should beat them with a fire extinguisher.

This is a really sickening story! I hope they are charged to the fullest extent of the law. I also hope that at their trial the jury is made up of 12 Texas Rangers,Cowboys, and Cowgirls.

The problem is that to the CPD, "black eyes" really don't make an impression.
The Abbate civil trial is getting underway. You will find FAR more complaints about the video of Karolina Obrycka getting beaten being shown "too much", than you will see sincere condemnations of the man who savagely beat her, or of the process that allowed him to be hired and retained for so long.
The extortion racket by CPD against tow truck drivers is also in the news, with it starting to look like an actual S.O.S. style ring.
