Governor Andrew Cuomo’s seven-round limit on magazines sold in New York will be suspended “indefinitely” by a measure in his $136.5 billion budget set to be passed this week, Dean Skelos, a Senate majority leader said.

The ban on magazines holding more than seven bullets was set to start April 15. Cuomo has said the law needs to be rolled back because manufacturers don’t make seven-round holders.

Good news for NY!

The lunacy in places like NY is just one of hundreds of examples of how extreme the knowledge deficit is when it comes to firearms, automatic vs semi-auto, machine guns vs assault weapons vs sporting rifles vs hunting rifles, clip vs magazine, millions vs thousands, crime vs child's play, of the politicians and the general public. These folks haven't a clue when they pass these draconian laws without doing their due diligence; much like you have to pass it to know what's in it. But, you know what, you all deserve what you've got and what you're getting...Cuomo, Bloomberg...I didn't vote them in. Family and friends always ask why I won't consider moving back to NY now that I'm retired, and I respond with just two names and throw in the word taxes ;)

P.S. Low information voters, you say...how about no information leadership?

But, the Governor still insists that we only load seven rounds into our ten round magazines. How this will be enforced is beyond me. Perhaps we will have the New York State seven-rounds-in-a-ten-round-magazine Gestapo?

The change is good news that should help mag availability, but I'm still not going to get excited until the whole damned thing gets struck down.

BUT......we law abiding citizens can still only load 7 rounds in our mags. I guess Mr. Cuomo trusts us to do the "right thing".

Well, that and there's that whole totally annonymous $500 bounty given to whistle blowers for the arrest of any Safe Act "cheaters"!

Even when they try to get something right they get it wrong. Don't get me wrong, I want the whole silly thing scrapped. But Cuomo's statement that nobody makes any seven round magazines is obviously incorrect.

Alnamvet, I usually like your posts, but this ^^^^ is way off base. I didn't vote them in either, nor did anybody I know. New York is a great example of a large conservative state that is controlled by a couple liberal cities, due to population numbers and nothing more. The idea that we "deserve what we got" is total BS.

And, just in case you forgot or didn't notice, the last two presidential elections went to the same party that Governor Coumo and Mayor Bloomberg are in. Don't forget, Governor Coumo has White House ambitions. Don't think it can't happen on a national stage.
Instead of throwing us overboard just because we live in New York, now is a time when ALL proponents of the Second Amendment and gun ownership need to unite, period.
United we stand, divided we fall.

I'm guessing it's only a matter of time before there's a short column on the front page about how NYC school system is offering a special badge for any child that turns their relatives in for cheating on the rules.

Just a bit off topic.

What about the S&W 617 "10" shot 22. Are NYers suppose to weld up three chambers???

I agree whole heartedly with the first part of your reply but, look at the population and voting demographic in NY state. I had no vote on Bloomberg (NYC owns him and stangely, most there like his lunacy). And I guarantee you that Mr. Cuomo ain't too well liked in these parts. Especially now.

All of the state-wide voting is scewed to the down state and big city libs as are all of the poles that show Cuomo's favorability, etc. They are a combo of ardent liberals and low info voters. It is tough to overcome.

He used all of his power (and then some) and political weight (read "pressure") to by-pass state law to pass this thing without input or debate. And used his personal progressive (his word not mine) agenda to draft it. This pile of junk is all on him, his legion of sheep in Albany and his down-state cronies and big-dollar backers.

52 of 62 counties (obviously all up state) in NY have called for it's repeal. There are a lot of upstate legislators who are having "buyer's remorse" for backing this because of the blowback they are getting from their constituency. Without proper debate and feed back. I don't know why they should have expected anything less.

It's frustrating to be thrown into that "well, you elected him pile". I really didn't. It's like blaming me for getting rearended while stopped at a red light. I had nothing to do with it but I'm suffering the consequences.

Sorry for the rant.

I guess the "Bounty Law" has been in effect since last Feb. It wasn't publicized very well and there hasn't been any reports of anyone turning in anyone. Pitting neighbor against neighbor! That can't turn out bad.

Since I was born, raised, and highly educated in New York City, I believe I am entitled to express my sentiments regarding the state of affairs in New York. I am a New Yorker, and only a New Yorker can say it like it is, and I have said it. If you are offended, then there may be more to what I say then just your initial gut feelings. Rather then express shock at my post, perhaps it's time for that so-called conservative base to organize and vote...yes, vote. I do not believe for one second that a majority of high information conservatives have been voting in all the election cycles of the last 20 years, and because that is my belief, then yes, you get what you voted for, or what your failure to vote delivered. Sorry for the hurt feelings due to the reality check.

You make the point that those not living in ths big citys no longer have an equal say. The cure is to give the rural voters more votes.

It wasn't shock - it was disgust. Disgust that pro-gun people are still throwing one another under the bus.
Yes I vote. Yes I try to give factual information to the low-info people. I am a member of the NRA, and donate extra to them when I can. It seems I fulfill your requests.
Beyond that, what else can I do?

Complain about others in your state?

As to what was originally posted, I am happy to hear New Yorkers are have been granted a stay of execution to high-round capacity magazine restrictions. Feel bad for those that may have been ripped off trying to buy magazines that would comply with the restrictions that were set to take place.
