Hello all

Swisswife and me will entering Las Vegas this June. She has checked out that
big Outlet-Center south of Las Vegas, and she wants "visit" (oh my God:rolleyes:)
it at Sunday the 2nd. Our roundtrip leads us back the following friday to Las Vegas again.
In a very hard negotiation with my better half, I had fought out a half day of
gunshop-visiting around Sin-City. Of course the laws do not allow to buy firearms
but accessories like grips, ammoboxes, reloadingtools etc. are free to the tourist-aliens.

So where are the gun-shops which got nice stuff and
can heal Swissman's Outlet-Center-damaged soul?

Thanks for your hints. I appreciate it very much..

I rather think he is referring to Las Vegas, NEVADA, don't you. Really? Who from Europe visits Las Vegas, New Mexico? Has even heard of it?

Swissman, LVSteve will see this and can tell you something, probably. He lives there. However, Clark County (a county is sort of like your cantons) is pretty tight on gun contol for a western US state.

Much of the Nevada population lives there, but many are not native westerners. I can't comment on politics on this board, but that may be an issue. Still, I bet they have a few good gun stores. Ammunition is probably not going to be exportable wihout a special license, even if they'll sell you any. But any accessories that don't violate Swiss law should, as you anticipate, be okay to buy.

I hope that you and your wife enjoy your visit. I look forward to seeing your always remarkable photos!

5wire, Texas Star,

Thanks for your answers. Yes I am looking for the shops in Nevada. We got not
a lot of time left for shoppingtours, so having a plan and follow to them, is
important. So I hope for some more insider-informations.

We went to a place out there called "The Gun Store." I don't remember exactly where it is, just that it was near or in Las Vegas. We rented and shot several different kinds of machine guns in their indoor range. They also sold a lot of gun related stuff. The pawn shop is a good place to look at old guns.

If it were me, I would skip the "Pawn Stars." They sell more t-shirts and souvenirs than good stuff. However, there is a pawn shop at Williams Ave. and N. Las Vegas Blvd. that usually has quite a few used S&W revolvers and lots of other stuff. To the right of the entry door (as you are coming in), they have a table of "junk" with no prices. Pick out three or four things you like and make an offer. Lots of holsters, slings, etc.

You might have better luck with some of the older gunstores on Boulder Highway like Spurlocks and Accuracy. The newer stores tend to have mostly all new stuff. The Gunstore on East Tropicana is not a bad place and you can rent fun things there.

One word of warning, the Las Vegas Valley is a BIG place. For example, if I go to visit my FFL buddy over in Henderson, it is a 64 mile round trip, and neither of us live at the extremes of the housing development. Therefore you need to plan the order in which you visit the stores.

Aloha,

I can recommend Bass Pro.

It has a lot of stuff for Both you and the Wife.

Covers everything you can imagine.

Fishing, camping, boating, everthing out doors and then some.

Great indoor aquarium, stuffed animals and all kinds of pelagic fish

hanging from the ceiling.

Plus, they encourage people taking photos inside their store.

Lots of packaged foods to take home.

The Gun Store is very Busy with asian tourists wanting to shoot full auto

firearms. Suggest you pass on them. They are close to the Liberace

Museum, if you're interested.

The Liberace Museum closed a few years ago. We also lost the Star Trek Experience, something for which I will never forgive the management of the LVH (formerly the Hilton).

Other places to shoot full auto are American Shooters on Valley View near Spring Mountain and a new store on Dean Martin called The Range 702.

Texas Star. Yup! Oops. It never occurred to me there was more than on Las Vegas. :o Up too late again, compost mentis. Deleted the post.

There are 40 FFL holders in the ZIP 8910X (smaller area) and forum members may know some of them for more "inside" details.

The problem with that FFL list is that many of them do not a have a store front or do not sell guns in the store. Not all Superpawns have gun stuff in view as they sell much of their stuff online.

5wire-

I was amused by your earlier list from Las Vegas, NM. Wrote it off to you being a Yankee who may not know much about the US West of the Mississippi. (sp?) I had heard of the one in NM. I think it was mentioned in one of the Matt Helm thrillers by the late Donald Hamilton, who was from NM.

It was nice of you to make those lists, although many will be doing business from home.

What Swissman needs is a good store near the major hotels. I don't gamble, so have never been to Las Vegas. I also don't like the idea of being in a hotel where I gather that hidden TV cameras are in most rooms. But most of what I know about Las Vegas comes from watching, "Vegas" and "CSI".

LVSteve & Texas Star, If they sell guns, they Have an FFL, supposedly. As I posted, I know nothing about any of them but they do have mailing addresses and phone numbers to save some time, driving time, or taxi fares. Google maps can help plan an itinerary. Better yet, there are certainly forum members who can comment on any in their experience.

I am "... a Yankee who may not know much about the US West of the Mississippi." I like the Matt Helm series but forgot about Hamilton's origins. Thanks for your comment on the lists. The info part is from a FileMaker database using the BATF&E downloadable FFL list. Good as of April 2013 and updateable, selectable by up to five digit ZIP Code with hyperlinks to map pages. Another of my vices.

The problem with that list is that is gives no clue as to how many actually have a storefront. Careful cross-checking with the Yellow Pages and a lot of phoning is a must before jumping in a cab.

Thanks for repeating the caution I already posted twice, Steve, and you posted twice, as well. Readers probably have it by now but I'll also repeat the idea of using google or some other search engine to confirm presence or absence of "storefronts". Nobody uses Yellow Pages much any more. I did, however, include phone numbers and addresses which do not require being in LV NV to utilize. I'm sure Swissman figured all this out already.

By the way, the word "Null" in the Business Name is used, I believe, to indicate "no storefront". Also, the license type gives further, specific info.

9-88-003-01-4K-01465, bold underline is the license type, 01, and 02 FFLs would be of primary interest.

Be sure to check the gun show schedule. I lucked out once, there was a gun show at South Point, which was a mile from the condo we stay at. I found some target stocks for my k-38 for $50, then won $25 just before I left the casino. In March, sadly, we had to leave the day before the big show (or one of the big shows) at the convention center started.

Glad I live in Florida. We have a gun shop on every corner.

I wonder how the crime stats add up in Florida where guns are good, and California where we are barely tolerated.

Ill bet there is less violent crime where there are less restrictions on guns.

What say y'all

Chuck
