My stars were aligned perfectly, my lucky star shone bright today. I got a brand new Liberty Safe for a mere $100.00 That is why I want to dance a jig. I'll keep it short: MSRP on Liberty's site for this safe is $899.00, Lowe's discounts to to $787.00, it is the store's last one, the model is discontinued, this is the floor sample, hence $480.00 to me.
Today I go to inspect the safe and they can't get it open w/key & combination! Bottom line if I take it as-is, it is mine for $100.00. The deal is no warranty. And they tell me that I am responsible for paying a locksmith.

One store employee had the combination and was able to get it open once but could not remember how she did it. Definitely a momentary case of "CRAFT" a disease where you....can't remember a thing.
Ha! It was easy as pie. It occurred to me on the drive home how to solve the mystery combination problem. I just went to YouTube and searched on "how to open a safe". Bingo. Four or five tutorials for my brand of lock; all with the same method. Walla! I can open it and I have saved an additional $360 and learned how to reprogram the combination while I was at it.
What this allows me to do is keep this medium size safe in my bedroom and still buy the Made In The Good Old USA Liberty Fat Boy Jr and bolt it to the concrete in the basement.
Some days you get the elevator and some days you get the shaft. Today was an elevator day for sure.
