According to a report I saw yesterday, the school board in Sioux Falls SD in a unanimous vote declared that there was no time to have the students in the local high school recite the pledge of allegiance. It was pointed out in the televised meeting that the recital of the pledge only took 10 seconds. The board acknowledged this fact and yet decided that nowhere in the 7 hour school day was there an opportunity to allocate the ten seconds necessary for pledging allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and therefore, it would not be done.

I guess national pride and honor or no longer important for the up and coming generation. Ladies and gentlemen we are witnessing history being rewritten. I can only hope that at the next school board election in Sioux Falls SD the general public shows more concern for our national heritage and the sacrifice of those who guard our freedom.

I hate to sound corny, but the older I get, the more I see this country drifting away from what made it great. And once you start to slide, it gets harder & harder to stop the slide, let alone reverse it. Its a sad state of affairs when half a minute can't be allowed to reaffirm dedication to the ideals on which it was built!:(

It runs in the same vein of " passing laws before you read them" and no U.S. flags being allowed to be flown on your lawn, a cross being taken down because it offends someone and on and on and on.
I believe if its allowed to continue, we are witnessing this country's downfall, piece by piece. It ain't the same place my Dad grew up in, that's for sure. Not even the same place I grew up in.

It's a disaster, that pledge is extremely important. I hope this doesn't get a political demerit but this PC stuff is insane. I can't have a cross but have to be tolerant of head scarves and full burkas. Yep, in Jersey City NJ it's common to see the full burka. We have office building that provide prayer rooms but the Christian cross is deemed offensive. I don't get it.

I saw that on the news too and made me see red. I cant believe the sheer idiocy these types show these days???

I haven't given up the ghost yet. I see all this as a wake up call and I hope most Americans do also.
Elections have Consequences !!

To put it mildly, ive always said ill be one of the first political prisoners here in the USA. Im not giving up the ship either. Wheres John Paul Jones, Nathan Hale & Patrick Henry when we need them?

Apparently honor and pride aren't PC.
By God, I'm an American, and I have to right and freedom to insult and offend anyone I please. If they don't like it, they can't try to offend me or take me to court or file charges. Bite it!

I attended two Veterans Day programs at local schools on Thursday and Friday before the holiday. The first was at my Grandson’s Elementary School. The program began with a mass Pledge of Allegiance. It progressed to a solo by a teacher who, singing acapella, beat Whitney Houston’s National Anthem! Tears and cheers all around! Then, the 4th and 5th Grade student choir sang many patriotic songs. The program ended in prayer.
The second program was at the Middle School where my God Daughter sang America the Beautiful solo. She did a great job. That program also included reciting the Pledge, en-masse, as well as a prayer. I was very proud of the schools putting on the programs. Both programs included students reciting passages from the Bill of Rights as well as the Constitution. The 2A was recited along with the 3rd.
My daughter is the Assistant Superintendent of Schools here. The Administration gets a steady diet of Conservative views

I just returned from the monthly meeting of our retired police officers' association & we open EVERY meeting with the pledge. When I go to a baseball game and everyone stands for the pledge, a good deal of young people just stand there paying no attention. A good dose of being in another country (Vietnam '66) to see how fortunate we are might cure that for some of them.

Sioux Falls better hope there is not a need to be protected. I guess they have all turned in their passports. Suppose they will take the flag down next...no time to put it up in the morning. Take off all those little Made in the USA stickers on stuff at school.....oh..forgot nothing is made here any more that a school system would buy.

They are all full of cow poop.....just my opinion though

Look in the mirror...they are us now
Maybe better to say we need to be them now

I would do some investigating and try my best to replace the school board members that voted for this disgrace. Get petitions up and get them thrown out.

They still do the pledge of allegiance in schools? I thought for some reason many schools stopped doing that long ago. Maybe the parents wanted this and if that is the case then they have the right.
