Default Jim Supica & Richard Nahas, Standard Catalog of S&W,beyond the third Edition..

The standard catalog of Smith & Wesson 3rd editon came out in
2007, now six years later I want to get a later edition, but I had
the thought, are they about to come out with a 4th edition?
Has anybody heard anything? I know this information is kept close, but some of you may have heard something.
thank you.
Ernie

That's news to me, Ernie - but then again most things are, lol.

Welcome to the site from Wisconsin!

This is the new member introduction section. Your question will get more answers probably in the lounge.

There are no authorities on the subject, except Jim Supica. And he's not talking!

We had this discussion a while back, maybe a year or two. At that time Jim suggested they'd regained their strength from the last marathon and were actually considering a 4th. There were no details at that time.

We were very pleasantly surprised at the 3rd being a coffee table edition with actual good pictures. The first was hard bound, the second kind of a paper back (but with a real improvement in text.) Then the 3rd was such an improvement. I have no idea what to expect or when (if).

The reason we answer these threads is because sometimes Jim or Rick gets really bored with life and visits here. They haven't been shy in the past about telling what they think.

I think the next edition should be expanded to include more color photographs and expanded descriptions. The values should be deleted because they change too rapidly.
Remember what iz names Colt books. I'd love to see a S&W book like those.

Thanks for all of your answers. I finally found my book the first edition bought in 2002.Probably the year the second edition came out.
The third edition is a big improvement with color, but six years?
I thought they probably are at least thinking of a start date for the fourth edition.
Would someone move this thread to the proper place, I couldn't find one. Also send me an email with the new location if you do move it, or I will probably never find it.
I sure do love all of the pictures of guns, I forgot I had the model 63 LR. and the same size gun in .22 magnum, until I saw them pictured here.

I remember seeing a post some time back regarding the "possibility" of a 4th edition, and there was discussion of a loose-leaf type of edition, and then just having "updates" from time to time. Just saying that may not be a bad way to go, hint, hint.

My recollection is that when Jim took the position as curator of the National Firearms Museum this was asked, and he stated then that there would not be a 4th edition.
