I've got a pot full of old VHS movies and all the Disney stuff that my wife will NOT let me get rid of:rolleyes: Is there ant market for this stuff or am I just holding on to bigger 8 tracks. I mean if there is some collector value to them (which I highly doubt) I'll hang on to them but I'd rather throw or give them away. My wife is a pack rat when it comes to hanging on to useless stuff.

McKay took our VHS movies. They are a used book store that also deals in music and movies.

I just tossed mine! The quality was so poor compared to todays HD technology I couldn't watch them, and the space they took up was put to better use - made a liquor cabinet!

I have a brand new Disney movie on VHS (still in the wrapper). According to what they sell for on eBay it is worth less than $5.

I second what MG said, unless you have someone to list them on e-bay, pack and schlep them to the post office for $5 (less fees)... ship them off to your local thrift store.... there are young families who use VHS for no other reason then the software is darn cheap..... If I only had what I spent on VHS Disney movies in my IRA.

Your wife is betting those tapes will appreciate like a pre-war Smith and Wesson. Somehow, I think that might be a losing proposition. But, you never know...Now, where is that suitcase full of 1970s cassette tapes I have?

The VHS tapes aren't really a problem as long as the player still works. but what do I do with the Beta tapes? And what about the guys that got suckered into the 8mm system? Maybe use them as targets for the k98. Ivan

Or unspool them and use them for tree decorations! I had hundreds of VHS tapes, and some Beta as well, that I held on to for years. Then I threw out everything except the large-box Disney movies, thinking the grandchildren would watch them. Recently I put one on just to see if the VHS player still worked and I was astounded at the low quality resolution as compared to DVD discs, let alone Bluray. One of these days I will just chuck the whole collection into the trash can, but not just yet.

Hey, I still watch my Beta tapes......machine still works. I did sell my Laser Disc at a yard sale a few years ago.

if you have the "Song of the South" tape, KEEP IT.. it is next to impossible to find...

Only one I still have. Except the home movies as a dvd backup. I think they still sell the DVD-VHS players if you want to watch them. They do take forever to rewind and direct access to a scene is not there.

Just remember be kind rewind.

They are currently worth more than my old 8 track audio tapes, not much more, but more. I would donate them to a cancer center for people to watch while they are going through Chemo treatments or some other organization like the VA that can put them to good use like that.

Pete
