Placed an order today with Midway ($600.00) and as I hit the submit button I noticed on the page that shipping was free for orders over $250. So I used the live chat to ask if I could get the free shipping. I was told no. Seems there is some fine print and my order didn't qualify. Quite frankly it hit a raw nerve. Don't flash free shipping on your page then list exceptions. So I cancelled the order and told them they have lost a long time customer.

Can someone recommend a good online retailer who treats their customers right.

yea, and having some stuff ship cheaper than other stuff is bogus too. It shouldn't matter if we're talking about a screwdriver bit or a 100 pounds of ammunition, this categorization or exceptions or whatever you want to call it is just unreasonable

Why is so upsetting that you didn't qualify for an offer? You could have just ordered the other items that basically have shipping included in the price and not purchased what you were looking for, but that really doesn't make any sense.

Seems all major online retailers pull a disappearing offer stunt every so often.

I am forced to order from King Size for a fair amount of clothing. I responded to an offer of 25% off all clothing including clearance items plus free shipping. Well I put together an order including seven clearance items and at the end, when I applied the discount code it only gave the 25% off regular and sale items with free shipping. I looked again at the offer in the email and it did say 25% off clearance too. However, when I clicked on the rules of the offer it explained in mouse type it was for NEW CUSTOMERS only. We established customers only get the other parts of the discount.
Which is really shady because they emailed it to me, a long time customer.

The free shipping details are very plain and in big text so there is no mystery. Why so many Midway bashing threads are around? Guess Larry should give things away free and ship them free also.

Here is the free shipping details (perhaps your order had some of the items not allowed?)

Free Shipping

Special Details

  • Only 1 Promotional Code may be used on each order, promo code can only be used once.
  • Offer does not cover Haz Mat Fees.

An ongoing bash

Call me an old fogy if you want to but my best advice to you is to go to the store. Handle it. Try it on. Drive it around the block. Either leave it be or just lay your money down and take it home with you and enjoy it. The best way I know to make sure you get the deal and the items you want and thought you were getting and avoid problems.

Anyway I'm learning who has good customer service and who hasn't. Heck if they had even offered $10 off of the shipping I would not have canceled the order but they were quite in your face with a I don't care attitude. If they don't care then neither do I.

Ive never ordered anything from them so having nothing negative to say from experience, only cause im "late to the game" on stuff like this. But, I like to think ive learned something useful here reading every ones thoughts.

I guess its a case of "Buyer Beware?"

I am just going to agree with what Rule3 posted and leave it at that, otherwise the moderators will ding me big time if I spoke what I truly think.

I'm guessing that some are simply not comfortable buying from ANYone online.

EVERY discount/deal/special is spelled out somewhere. You can't "finish the deal" before knowing the final price. If the discount doesn't apply to some of your items, they'll tell you why - either you can read it before starting the process or before you click the final OK.

Speaking of online dealers, it's been almost 60 minutes since I've gotten an email flyer from DirtierThanCheap. I'm beginning to think they ran out of tupperwear pistols.

I live in Missouri and never been able to buy from them because of both sales tax and the high shipping. They do a lot for the shooting sports but still...

Midway offers FREE shipping on a lot of scopes/Optics. Many items are shipped from different warehouses

So lets say I order a $150 scope that has free shipping. I also order another $100 worth of other stuff. Add that all up in one order and it's $250. So does that mean Midway should ship my other $100 for free?????

There is no such thing as free shipping it's added to the price somewhere. What is all this "high shipping" it is the same as any other UPS shipping:confused:

Primers and powder are shipped from two different locations so there would be 2 haz mat fees. So No do not buy powder and primers at the same time or you pay double haz mat plus shipping.

Less than $25 fee. If you have ever been in business it costs the same in labor and time packaging for one little item as it does 10 little items. So they do not have a group of little elves running around to ship someones $3 spring.

Order one little item from Brownells/Sinclair(great company)
See how much the shipping is.

So where are all these other great companies that have everything in stock and shipping is so cheap??

Not saying Midway has the lowest prices but what other company has as many items, excellent CS, return service and fast shipping??

Natchez?? No Way, they tack on a $3-4 s/h fee and takes weeks to get an item. Plus weigh down an order with a catalog unless you see it and remove it.They will not ship to some States. Their prices used to be a bit lower but no so much now, They do not stock half of what Midway does.

MidSouth? Nice people that used to have a few items but no where near what Midway has

Cheap as Dirt ? Ya sure.

How many company owners gave one Million of their OWN money to the NRA??

Brownells is a top notch company but lets compare prices. Plus they are more towards Gunsmith products so the Have Sinclair. Top of line in all ways but mostly reloading.

So were should we shop that has everything that Midway offers?? Plus all the Countries they ship to or have presence? Sure I have been miffed at Midway when something wasn't in stock but they want it in stock as much as we do. Can't sell if they can't get it.
