Default Looking for certain TV-Movie/Series

While still living with my parents (just to circle the right time spot) about 25 to 30 years the other night I was watching on TV a kind of American TV-movie or series which I don't exactly recall.

There was one scene in this movie when a father of two children working as a Sheriff or Deputy had his gun rig hung on the back of a chair in the kitchen while talking to his wife in another room when he suddenly heard the strange words "Hands up" yelled by his son. He left the room, crossed the kitchen, saw the empty gun rig and outside in the backyard saw his son playing good guy/bad guy with his little sister and pointing the loaded gun at her.

As far as I can recall it was a Single Action revolver. The hammer was cocked. While calmly talking to his son he managed to let his son to lower the arm with the revolver and took the gun from his hands.

He wasn't angry but to show what could have happened to little sister he now aimed at one of the pumpkins or melons in the garden and fired the gun. That was all to be needed to convince his son and daughter not to play games with loaded guns.

This must be well 25 to 30 years ago. If I recall it correctly but it could also be anothter actor- it was Keith Carradine who played the father.

Does anyone of you have an idea what movie/TV-series that could have been?

No, but here's a story that you will know:

Last night,I watched a YouTube feature on how Arminius defeated Publius Varus in the Teutoberger Wald. I hadn't realized that Arminius was one of those German children taken to Rome as a hostage. I did know about that practice from reading Julius Caesar's books.

Saw another program on how Boudicca (Boadicea) rampaged over Britain until defeated by a smaller Roman force that chose its ground well.

Sounds like the miniseries "Chiefs" with Wayne Rogers, Keith Carradine, Charlton Heston, and Billy Dee Williams.

Thank you at all! We ordered the DVD from amazon.de and enjoyed watching it.

Unfortunately the original soundtrack (English language) wasn't very good because they company who released the DVD only had a British VHS/VCR as a basic to make the copy from but the German overdubbed version was very good with a clear sound.
