At some point in the near future, I'd like to purchase an older police dept. 12 gauge pump. Unfortunately in my area, pickens are nil and my travels have not uncovered anything either. Is there a reliable vendor that anyone can recommend for clean older police trade-ins? I'm not worried about looks, just sound bore and mechanics, at reasonable prices (not hoping for a freebie either!).

I got one from Summit Gun Brokers, a couple of years ago. 20" 870 with rifle sights.

Well, just checked my records. October of 9. 277 shipped. Not bad.


They currently have 18" bead sights and 20" rifle sights. Prices have gone up, though.

I always take precautions

I picked up a used police trade in Remington 870 police mag-
num in 12 ga. with walnut furniture and parkerized finish last
year on Gun Broker. I paid $370 for it. I had a side saddle in-
stalled on it, and it's my home defense shotgun. You just don't
see these anymore at reasonable prices.

If you are in SE Pa go to Surplus City. They won't ship so don't even ask. Yesterday they had Remington 870 magnums $350 and a host of other 12G shotguns. Along with other police firearms

I have seen SW3000 shotguns that are police trade-ins on GB at 250 to 300. 18.5" and 20" barrels. They are metric copies of 870s.


The bottom 3 are PD trades.

I bought this'un at the local NAPA about 10 years ago. They had taken about a dozen shotguns in trade from the Sumter County, Georgia SO. Many of the guns had supposedly been in the trunks of patrol cars that were under water during the Flood of '94, when TS Alberto dumped 21" of rain on Middle/South Georgia in 24 hours. They had several S&Ws, several 870s, and a few of the High Standards. I paid $145 for this one, and regret not buying at least three of them. The Model 19-3 was a LEO gun in South Georgia during the early 70s.

I paid $35.00 for this Mossberg. I know that is a whole bunch of money, but it had a custom adjustable choke.



I gave around $415.00 for this Remington 700 .270 and the Winchester 1200 Riot back in 2008. A neighbor saw me carrying both of these guns into the house and stopped. He bought the Remington off me for $385.00, IIRC. It made the Winchester affordable. I carry it back and forth to the mountains.

My local dealer has a real nice one for $350.00 and he ships. He's got several that aren't so nice cosmetically but are in good mechanical condition for a little less. I think most of these came from the Vicksburg P.D. Send me a PM and I'll give you his phone number. I saw him at a show Saturday and he also just traded for a real nice 5" mod 27.
