Default Oh, great, now I'm in competion with the FBI

New phone book just came out. As I posted a few months ago, Dex left me out of the Yellow Pages last year. Got free ads this year.
Under Investigators there is me, a couple PIs from another small town.......and the FBI.

I have been in business longer than anybody in the area, and I charge considerably more. Wonder what the FBI charges.
Jim

And this is why you stress "experienced LOCAL PI". Not to mention that you answer your own phone I bet.

BTW- You can't compete with free housing, so you should offer HOME cooking.

I knew a couple of ex FBI agents, both were nice guys but... there were reasons they were ex FBI. My F-I-L was a E-7 CID "agent" in the reserves for many years. One weekend a month they got a case closed, weather solved or not. Ivan

Through the years lockheed aircraft factory where I was a guard, seemed to be a popular place for FBI, CID, Fed prison guards etc all on their second career. Mostly they hired retired military and cops etc. Dont know how much they do of that anymore as I have been retired 14 1/2 years. Started there in 1965. The chief almost didnt hire me as he said I was young and not retired military or ex LEO. Said I wouldnt stay. Thank God I still had a picture of my last GF in my wallet standing with her small boy. She was a widow. I whipped out my wallet and said, chief, I need a good job to send back for my GF and to get married.
He gave me a chance. I never married her but I still think I hold the record for seniority on the job over probley several thousand guards before and since me. They gave me #1 badge when I retired and I had the most seniority for about 5 or 7 years before I retired. After me they did go to a lot of younger guys and and some females. They never had a female guard until about 5 years after I hired in. When I left I would guess maybe 25 % of the guards were female. How did I get sidetracked with that history? Oh well. At one time I would think we were the highest paid guards in the industry and no doubt the world. It was a good job.

You're gonna need a cheap black suit and a couple drones to compete with those dudes.

I have a friend I went to high school with who is an FBI agent. Saw him a few months ago at his Dad's funeral. I took him aside and said "this is just a yes or no question: As far as terrorism, do we have a need to be worried"? He looked me right in the eye and said "YES".

These folks are the nations top-tier Law Enforcement officers. They have way more technology than I could ever dream of. I am pretty good at what I do, and charge accordingly.

I just hope Dex screwed up by putting them in the Yellow Pages under "Investigators".

They certainly screwed up last year when they left me out.
Jim

Years ago I moved and got a new phone number, one digit off the Yellow Cab number. Phone rang at all hours, but especially right at closing time for the bars. Drove me nuts until I finally got Ma Bell to change it.

Friend of mine was given the phone number of a bail bondsman who had retired. Calls all night long from the jail for weeks before they changed it for him.

Another guy got a new cell phone with a number that had obviously belonged to a call girl before he got it. Made life interesting for a few months.
