For you James Garner Maverick--fans--and........
For those of ya who are Bret and Bart Maverick (James Garner and Jack Kelly) fans. By accident when I was looking for something very unrelated--just discovered that there has been a dvd release of the pilot episode of the revived series--also starring both. That series came out late 70s or about 1980?? Was unfortunatley--short-lived too. Anyway, just a heads up.
Heads up part 2. The entire Have Gun Will Travel series has long since been released--also as a box set-complete series. I saw that there is yet a different box set forthe complete series set to be released in the next somemonths. This one is supposed to be full of freebie goodies too-like a repo metal bullet and a Paladin figurine included. Loooking forward to this release and want it.
Oh and, a re-release of the entire: Sharps series--is again at hand. This comes in a wooden crate and includes a free Napoleanic Wars dagger. This was released several years ago came with the same stuff.

Quite welcome sir---and I think the price ofr the Have Gun--set--is about $150--which aint half bad for a omplete series. Im not sure what the Sharpes set is selling for? I remember the first timeit came out--back about 2008--it was $450--but im suspecting its much cheaper now. :-))

Did you know that there was a 3rd "Maverick"? He was played by Roger Moore (007 himself), and was called "Beau Maverick"....
The series was a Warner Brothers production from the early 1960s. The '70s are a little late.....So, was "Have Gun Will Travel". I was watching "Big Jake" this weekend, and mentioned the fact that Paladin (Richard Boone) hated horses. As many westerns as he made, those horses probably paid for a really nice mansion for him to live in.....

Beau Maverick was their cousin who did something heroic. Because he embarrassed the family by "being a hero" he was banished to England for several years. This explained the English accent.
Richard Boone lived and taught acting in St. Augustine, Florida for the last 11 years of his life. He usually flew Delta out of Jacksonville so we would see him at the ticket counter quite often. He normally had on a beat up hat, old jacket, khaki pants and a very nice pair of boots. To show you what kind of man he was, a sailor standing in line at the counter one day timidly asked Richard Boone if it was ok to take his picture. Boone in a booming voice said, "Sure son!" He took the sailors camera, handed it to Mrs. Boone, put his arm around the sailors shoulder and said, "Better yet, she can take our picture." Needless to say, the sailor was very pleased.

There was also a fourth Maverick...Brent. His was a short lived character towards the end of the series. I loved this show when I was a kid.

Robert Colbert appeared later in the fourth season as a third Maverick brother, Brent Maverick.

Speaking of Colbert. I found 1-2 great stills showing him with Sir Roger Moore, Jack Kelly and all had guns drawn. I might pick that up later this week.
