Anyone else have Christmas pudding on Christmas Eve or day?

The puddings and double devon cream just arrived. Picked up some brandy too. Never had it, but wanted the best traditional dessert UPS could bring to the door.

There is an order of putting the brandy on, lighting it up and then putting (warm?) cream on top. Not sure at all about the orders or amounts. Google seems to have varied opinions.

Any others out there that have tried this?

my wife is English and we have plum pudding and trifle every Christmas....I like it...

Great grandma made one each year in autumn. Dried currants, flour, beef suet, sugar, spices and other stuff -- pretty much a SE Wyoming ranch version of the recipe that likely arrived when our ancestors did.

She'd make it that early so she could load it with brandy. Soaked it every Sunday until Christmas Eve, by which time it would be proper combustible. I don't know, maybe the arid elevated climate helped, but that thing would just keep absorbing the booze.

A teetotaller most of the year, she'd have a few belts of the remaining brandy whilst lighting. These were magical moments for a seven-year-old boy.
