A Christmas Story

Jean Shepherd always emphasized that he was a story teller. He was born in 1921, Little Orphan Annie premiered on the radio in 1935, the Red Ryder
BB gun was introduced in 1939. In one scene you see a man and a woman in Army uniforms, in 1939 the Army was very little seen, especially in the North and the Women's Auxiliary Army Corps wasn't established until 1942.

I remember being excited to here of the production of "A Christmas Story" as I loved Sheps writing. His way with language resonates throughout the movie.

I might catch it after Die Hard. One of my favorite Christmas movies. Although on line there is a battle of whether it’s an action movie that happens to be at Christmas or a Christmas movie in its own right. Either way, it’s a fun watch.
Bruce Willis has put this argument to rest. When asked which it was he responded "It's neither-it's a Bruce Willis movie".
As far as "A Christmas Story" is concerned, I remember watching it when it first came out in 1894. I was 29 newly married and absolutely entranced by the movie. Still am today as are my kids. Darren McGavin casting was brilliant! Reminded everyone of their father!! Bartering for Christmas trees at the local lot, everything was just perfect. The Christmas morning scene was classic remembering my parents sitting down after the carnage with a glass of wine , the kids going through paper looking for anything that might have ben missed...on and you had better keep the tags with the presents so you could write thank you notes. All in all a perfect movie

My Christmas movie is White Christmas, 1954, with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. Grew up watching it on an old B&W TV in the early 1960s. My sister gave me the DVD a few years ago, and I watched it again before Christmas this year.
