Pearl grip question......
What company made the pearl stocks with the steer's head w/ ruby eyes on one side? Sometimes you would find them with Mexican "dos pesos" coins where the logo would normally be. Any idea as to value?

Those grips are usually associated with Wolf & Klar, an old distributor out of Fort Worth, Texas, but as to who actually produced them, I don't know. W&K grips will usually have Roman numerals marked on the backsides. The grips can be quite valuable depending on condition and precious metal/gemstone content.

I've never heard of you or purchased any pearl grips from anyone. I have no idea who you are.

Is this what is called "plausible deniability"?

Well Mike, it's plausible, you really did not like getting the pearl and ruby grips I sent ya for Christmas . Remember they were the ones with the gold clad inserts.

I liked them fine, Fred, but over half of my "ladies" thought they were a bit much. Only time I ever saw them actually take a vote. It was 17-13.

policerevolvercollector, I just received a PM from another member saying I had a thin skin about something in this thread. I was stating what Patton said & nothing more. I have no idea what he's speaking of. He did not see our PM's discussing your mistaken identity of me. I just want that member & all others to know I am not one bit upset with you about anything in this thread that you may or may not have said to me. Mistakes happen, I understand that. If that member really needs to know, I just had no idea who you are and what you were talking about. I don't know why that person had to send me a PM about it when it was none of his business. My skin is as thick or thicker as anyone's here. Enough said!

The .32-20 handejector I recently bought has pearl handles so I guess I need to move to New Orleans.

I don't mean to change the subject. I flunked out of pimp school, but they don't check ID cards in New Orleans.
Oh wait. What was the question? Something about ruby eyes. Talk about thread drift...

I don't care what George Patton said about pearl grips. I like them.
To the OP. It seems to me the ones I've seen with the red eyes were ivory, or maybe bone, not pearl. I don't think I've ever seen pearl grips with anything like a steer head carved into them. I did a search for "steer head revolver grips" and got several images, but no real information about who made them. A couple of the images had red eyes.
There are probably some made today in some kind of polymer.

Only pair I have, came with the gun. Had a pair for an N frame that was given to me because no one knew what they fit-- Put them on a 1926 44 special-- they fit great, but one broke the first time I fired it-- THrew them away-

I've always been surprised that the general even knew such people. I'm sure they hung out around the gate on payday, but NOLA was Navy not Army -- They sure hung out at the gate at Knox though.

I hadn't either until I attended a gun show last year, at one obscure table a gentleman had a pair of carved pearl grip panels for a 1911 pistol for $1K.
I don't recall the carved image, steer or something similar. They were real pearl in my opinion as I have a couple pair that are smooth.
But that is OK because I live up north, not as far as AK but close.
