Anyone here have Starz and watch a series called: Black Flag--or Black Sails?
A few days ago, I wasnt really paying attention to the commercials on TV and perked up when they were advertising someTv series that is played on the STARZ cable tv station.I dont get STARZ and know not what they air.anyway, I was not really paying much attention but-they were showing a commercial for a Pirate-era-like series I think was either called: Black Flag-or Black Sails?????? and was wondering if anyone here has heard of or seen eny episodes from this new series? Apparently season two is about to start.
I never hear of this series but--since I love historical stuff-this one is right up my alley.-

I just got done watching Season1 on DVD.
I read "Treasure Island" as a kid; this is sort of a prequel.
I don't know much about pirate history, but I enjoyed the series.

It's a very well done series: well worth watching.
I too am a fan of historical fiction.

Black Sails, excellent. Many scenes of intimate encounters never allowed on major networks. It will inflate your jib.

Pretty entertaining. A mix of historical pirates (Charles Vane, Jack Rackham and Anne Bonny) and the Treasure Island characters. I like it.

They had a marathon today and I started to watch an episode. After about 15 minutes I wasn't entertained and switched the channel.
I wasn't convinced it was all that accurate and for some reason the language used didn't seem to enhance the plot. Assuming there was one.
I like historical dramas, but this one just did nothing for me.
OTOH, I did get to finally watch all of "Master and Commander" and found that entertaining.
And early this morning I watched "Northwest Passage" staring Spencer Tracy. I don't know how accurate it was, but I did like it. Robert Young and Walter Brennan were supporting actors.
Brennan seems to have been in every movie made during the 40s and 50s. He wasn't but he did work steadily from 1925 almost up to his death in 1974. Sometimes he'd be in three or four movies in a year.
But I digress.
Maybe I'll give Black Sails another try at some point.

I like it. It has become a regular. It has Flint, Billy Bones and Long John from Treasure Island and, as mentioned before, the more historical characters. Some inaccuracies but overall pretty good. Language is rough but it was a rough life at a rough time. Maybe I'm just getting calloused.
Some nudity. But Hannah New (the blond "fence") is probably the best looking new star I've seen and has a GREAT body (Can I say that here?)

Glad you keeping an open mind on it. I cant see any unless I get the DvDs. I cant think of the British/Australian actors name but--he was the essential"Pirate"in those type movies.
Tonight is the start of three days of: Sons of Liberty--looking forward to that one too. Sometime this year--Turn will be on AMC again.
Northwest Passage is my favorite Spencer Tracy film--the Judgement at Nuremberg--The movie was supposedly very accurate with all three books about him. Shame they never got around to making the other two chapter--would have been very interesting.
