I came across this video today and thought I'd share. I apologize if it's already been posted.

Anyway, it's a video of a group of Syrians fighting the civil war over there who are pinned down by a sniper. I guess, since they're not going anywhere soon, they decide to play with the sniper a little by baiting him with a jacket on a shovel. It's kind of odd to see these guys having so much fun in a war zone but, I guess you gotta laugh when you can. They certainly do think it's funny.

Good looking dummy. They'd better watch their heads if somebody forgets and walks in front of there.
I don't think they're gonna "forget" about the sniper trying to kill them. [emoji6] They do seem to be having a good ol' time though, considering. I would be more concerned with catching a frag in the face from a ricochet.

The sniper is not a very good shot , I think if he had hit the dummy the laughing might have stopped !

Maybe I'm just "different" but I think if I had been one of the guys in the video, and the sniper had hit the dummy, I would have absolutely fallen down laughing so hard. :D

I also would have had to lay the dummy down in view of the sniper as an acknowledgement that he had "killed" it, and to see if he would keep pecking away at it.

See, I think the sniper was in on the joke after awhile (if not from the very start) and that this was a bit of levity for both sides in an otherwise all-too-serious, life and death conflict. After all, these are for the most part young men, and there is mischief and hilarity in all of us, to some degree.

To me, it illustrates the humanity of both sides, and I hope that it came out well for all concerned.

Kinda reminds me of those stories from the Civil War of soldiers coming out at night and exchanging cigarettes, or during the Battle of the Bulge, when the soldiers on both sides were singing "Silent Night" on Christmas Eve....

It's amazing what conditions of war will do to you. Humor and "fun" are found in all the wrong places but it's been my experience that such digressions are necessary to the maintenance of sanity and combat readiness.
